It gives us such a thrill when beautiful couples like Michelle & Dan choose us as an integral part of their wedding day. To our great delight, they enjoyed their photo experience just as much as we did! Michelle kindly shared this rave review about her experience with Ulysses Photography:

I first met Ulysses & Jenni at a bridal show before I was engaged. I was struck at how they wanted to know about me and never once asked, Are you looking for a photographer? After getting engaged and going to a few more bridal shows and gathering lots of information on vendors I just knew they had to be our photographers. They were the only photographers I met with. My fiance & I felt so comfortable with them and we got such a great vibe from them, I had every confidence that I would be happy with them and their work. Our engagement photos were beautiful, finally I had some good photos of my fiance & I!! I was so excited to see them on my wedding day, I ran outside in my robe when I saw them walking down the street!! Words can not describe the beauty of their pictures and the level of professionalism and friendliness they exude. You don’t even realize they are taking your picture and yet they catch all the important moments and the results are amazing. Everyone was blown away by our photos. My husband and I looked like models on our wedding day and I have my make-up artist, Ulysses and Jenni to thank for that!!

  • Ulysses - Ada!! Your thoughts are SPOT ON, because those were exactly the words I said to Jenni as we began setting up for this photo. I’m glad it translated so perfectly for you and Jimmy. And Katie, I like it because it’s black & white, too! It seems I’m in great company. Luv you all! More to come… SOON! 😉August 17, 2010 – 11:55 PM

  • Ada - WOW! This photo is sick! It looks like we’re standing on the edge of eternity!

Alison & Brian’s wedding day was full of fun, flair, and elegant fashion. It felt as if the day really began right after putting on her dress, when Alison heard the ice cream truck driving through the neighborhood. She and her girls simply HAD to have an ice cream treat! After enjoying a delicious bar, it was off to the Shaker Heritage Site for a beautiful wedding day Reveal, when Brian got to see his exquisite bride. Alison’s vivid bouquet was wonderfully complimented by Brian’s fashionable navy suit, accessorized with a broad-striped tie of hot pink & navy. Together, they made an exciting couple to photograph while we enjoyed walking around the beautifully rustic barns and structures. The day flew by all too quickly, but we’re so happy to have been able to enjoy it with them and their incredible families.

  • Ulysses - Thank you so much, Starlyn, for the very kind words about the photos! And a big thank you for allowing Allison + Brian access to the site. Although our time there was brief due to the day’s schedule, the Shaker Heritage site provided the most beautiful time of our day for photos. The couple was able to enjoy the beauty and tranquility there, and then they were whisked away for the madness of the rest of the day, with the ceremony at a nearby church and reception at Normanside Country Club.January 6, 2012 – 5:30 PM

  • Starlyn D'Angelo - These are absolutely wonderful photos of this wedding. You note that the venue is normanside country club but this definitely is the Shaker historic site adjacent to Albany airport (www.shakerheritage.org). Your photos are some of the best I have seen and show the historic site very well!January 6, 2012 – 3:27 PM

  • Ulysses - Obsess and rave away, Jessica! We’ve recently concluded some clinical studies, and it seems the only cure or coping mechanism to relieve the manic symptoms is to shout about us to others as frequently as possible. and to point them to this blog and to our website portfolio. LOL!!! Big hugs, Jessica! Thank you!!! 😉August 10, 2010 – 9:03 AM

  • Jessica - It’s true, I’m slightly obsessed with your work. I’m sure there is a 12-step program available somewhere . . .

Neglected to mention that I agree with Jessica @ 1:14 PM – that bridal portrait is simply stunning. My prediction – the groom will be keeping a copy on his nightstand!

(BTW, I just had to remind myself to change my “default” email address when I submit comments!)August 10, 2010 – 8:58 AM

  • Ulysses - Thank you, Johanna! Coming from Alison’s sister, it really means a lot. I have to be completely open. If you show me a barn, just about ANY barn, I am soooo there! LOL! I mentioned to your mom that after about 2 seconds of consideration of the options, I decided we HAD to go to this place for the entire session. So glad everyone else enjoyed it, too. Hope to talk to you soon! Enjoy the full gallery, and thanks again! 🙂August 9, 2010 – 9:18 AM

  • Johanna - The pics are beautiful!! Love the backdrop too! Thank you both so much.August 9, 2010 – 9:05 AM

  • Ulysses - Jessica (the second Jessica :D), you’ve always been one of our most enthusiastic fans, and we really appreciate it so much. Thank you! We put our hearts into the day, so we genuinely enjoyed the time we got to spend with this great-looking couple. It was definitely a memorable and emotive day. 🙂August 5, 2010 – 5:54 PM

  • Jessica - Love the hair, love the dress, LOVE the photos . . . you two are so ridiculously talented!August 3, 2010 – 4:11 PM

  • Ulysses - Thank you, Jessica! We had a great time photographing them. I probably could have spent the entire day there. 🙂August 3, 2010 – 1:42 PM

  • jessica - That black and white portrait of the bride is gorgeous!August 3, 2010 – 1:14 PM

Laura & Chris sent an incredibly sweet note immediately after returning home from their honeymoon. Kind words like these are reminders of why we’re so thankful to have such appreciative clients like this, who excite us about doing our very best for them.

Hi Jenni

Do you ever get tired of hearing how wonderful you are??  If so, I apologize in advance for fluffing your ego even more with this email….

I no longer have enough fingers or toes left to count the number of people who have called, emailed, texted, or literally stopped me face to face to tell me how amazing the wedding was and how absolutely stunning our photos are.  People have gone so far as to say that they are the most incredible images they have ever seen.  To each and everyone of these friends and family, I have done nothing but smile, cry and praise your names.  Your work has filled our hearts with so much joy and Chris & I are honored to be able to carry these amazing photographs, and the memories they evoke, with us for the rest of our lives.

We have been perusing and discussing the images nonstop and will likely be calling upon your expertise to help us create the best storybook possible. We have so much confidence in you both and your work has done nothing but illustrate to us that you are our best resource.

A whole hearted thank you once again!

Laura

The perfection of Amber & Matthew’s wedding day was threatened by a NY heat wave and thunderstorms, but neither of these could lessen their infectious energy, emotion, and excitement over saying their marriage vows before all their family and friends. Amber was savoring each and every moment of their whirlwind day with her bridesmaids. We were delighted by her hot pink shoes and her earrings of vivid pink crystals. Meanwhile, Matt and his guys were getting themselves ready in a nearby room, with Matt helping each of his buddies put together the finishing touches on their tuxes before receiving several warm embraces from overjoyed family members. Amber & Matt, your devotion to one another and to your families is such a strength to you both, and we are incredibly thankful to have been a part of your day.

One our happiest experiences is to be one of the first faces a newborn baby gets to know, often within its first week of life. Meeting little Aliyah was really special for us because we’ve also known and gotten to photograph her big sister since before Day #1. What an awesome privilege to be a part of Jasmine & Josh’s family since their children’s earliest days! Aliyah was calm and relaxed during her photos session and definitely loved to interact even at this early age. We can’t wait to watch her grow in the days to come!

Laura & Chris have so much love to give one another, and those strong feelings of devotion are what gave the entire day its emotive signature. We had a wonderful time photographing this stunning bride and her attentive groom because they asked for beautifully different locations for shooting, and they were brave enough to take a few chances. They made a strong effort to carve out time during the busy day to ensure they had a relaxed photo session together. But more than anything, seeing how close they were with one another, and with their friends and family, ensured that we had ample opportunity to show off those feelings in photos. Laura & Chris, thanks so much for your willingness to climb mountains and “risk arrest” for the sake of great photos! 😉

  • Ulysses - Laura!!!!!! It’s so exciting to hear from you two! It’s amazing to see you posting all the way from Cancun! Believe me, I wish we were down there with you. Couldn’t you have fit two more people into your luggage somehow? LOL! All the happiness, joy, and girlie squeals are a delight to our hearts. Thank you so much for the chance to give you the sort of unique and emotive photos you deserved on your incredible whirlwind of a day. There are so many great memories from this one for us as well. The gallery is already online for you and your family and friends to enjoy! Have a look as soon as you can! And if you need any help at all, do not hesitate to write. Hugs for you both! And remember… lots of sunscreen and aloe, and don’t forget to keep hydrated. 😉July 25, 2010 – 1:13 PM

  • Laura - SO…we are all the way in Cancun, and I was starting to annoy Chris asking about our wedding photos and when I could see them. Luckily, we found the resort “business center” and discovered we had been blogged! I don’t even know how to express the smiles that came across these two (rather sunburned) faces!! Let’s just say there might have also been a few girly screams (Chris denies this though). If this is only a taste of what’s to come, we could not be happier!! We can’t wait to check out the entire set of proofs when we are stateside. THANK YOU so much again for capturing the beauty and emotion of our day as exquisitely as you did. Lots of hugs!!July 23, 2010 – 10:23 PM

  • Ulysses - So glad that it was an ideal day for these two!July 21, 2010 – 9:36 AM

  • Joan Perez - Absolutely beautiful & enchanting pictures of a stunning bride & handsome groom. It was a wonderful wedding – thank you for sharing!!!July 21, 2010 – 9:01 AM

We recently got to meet our newest tiny little friend, Liliana. Just as beautiful as her mother, and quiet and strong as her father, she was such a joy to photograph. Congratulation to Anna & Javier! Thank you so much for letting us capture your adorable little girl. It’s going to be so much fun watching her grow. 🙂

We first met Christine 5 years ago, when she was the Maid of Honor at Jennifer & Jason’s wedding. We had so much fun at that wedding, Christine decided then and there that we were going to be her wedding photographers someday. We were thrilled when she called us to tell us she finally had a date, and was not looking at any other photographers because her mind was already made up. We knew the artist in Christine was going to create many beautiful details for her wedding (right down to handmade paper for their personalized vows). This was truly going to be a wedding to remember. Dom even choreographed their first dance!

Christine and Dom, thank you for your complete trust in us, and for being so kind and wonderful to work with.

We first met Melissa & Michael, we could easily tell how much love  they have for one another and for their two adorable little girls. When Melissa asked if we could take some relaxed lifestyle portraits of their beautiful family, we jumped at the opportunity to do so. In the gorgeous open setting of a wonderful horse farm, they and their girls were able to show us what a fun-loving, happy family they are. The girls looked forward even more to changing into their ballerina tutus. Too cute! We had a great time on this family outing.

More with Melissa + Michael

  • Ulysses - Melissa, we can’t begin to tell you just how wonderful a time we had with you and your family! The girls were so much fun and really warmed up to the idea even quicker we expected. The ballerina outfits definitely had some power there! LOL! Thanks to you and to Michael for putting so much trust in us. We’re excited to see how the photos decorate your new home!July 21, 2010 – 11:50 PM

  • Melissa Verlin - We had the best time and appreciate the hard work you put in with our spontaneous girls!! 🙂 The pictures came out beautiful and I can’t wait to share them with everyone!! Thanks again.July 16, 2010 – 8:24 PM

Gina & Herman have been the sweetest couple to photograph. From Day One they put complete trust in us to show off not only what beautiful people they are, but also to artistically capture their feelings for one another. We had a wonderful time doing that for them on their wedding day. The tears of joy began early in the day when Gina’s parents saw her dressed as a bride. She was simply gorgeous. Herman’s laid-back confidence made him just as much a pleasure to be with, too. Although he was even more excited than anyone else while waiting for Gina to arrive, his cool black & white kicks clearly told everyone that he was going to be himself and enjoy his day as much as possible. And everyone certainly did! It was a beautiful day filled with lots of love all around.

We’ve known Allison & Dan for many years now, having photographed the wedding of Allison’s sister Jacquelyn, as well as the wedding of Allison’s close college friend Amy and Dan’s brother Doug (the very last image in the preview above is us with each of these awesome brides!). So this one had even more special meaning for us than usual, as it meant seeing so many beloved people once again. We’ve always loved everything about taking photos with this sweetest of couples, and this day was no different as they gave us access to the entire day’s activity as well as their feelings for one another. Their destination wedding in Saratoga Springs, NY, was a gala event where Allison’s pampering began at a comfortable bed & breakfast that took us back to another era in time, continued through an emotional ceremony, and ended with their families and closest friends gathered for a fun-filled reception of food, music, and dancing at the grand Saratoga National. It was an amazing experience for everyone.

  • Ulysses - Welcome back home, Allison! You know how much we adore you guys. While the day did indeed FLY BY, it felt as if we were with family again. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day with you and your families. You gave us so many great opportunities for amazing photos! It really was a perfect weekend for all your guests, too; I can’t tell you how many positive comments we heard from everyone around us. If you need any help with photo choices at all, do not hesitate to write and ask for assistance! We’d love for your wedding album and wall art to be just as incredible as were your engagement photos and guest book. It was such a great experience being with you again. Hugs & affection to you both! – U & JJuly 21, 2010 – 9:49 AM

  • Allison - Ulysses and Jenni, Thank you, thank you, thank you. Dan and I absolutely love the all your magnificent work! You made our wedding day out of town feel like we were right at home because we were with the both of you. The next steps will be quite difficult…choosing the photographs for the album!July 21, 2010 – 8:39 AM

  • Roger - I thought Jacquelyn and Tom’s wedding was spectacular and something that couldn’t be duplicated. Allison and Dan didn’t disappoint. Two days of fantastic golf followed by a beautiful wedding and reception was incredible. Can you imagine what Chuck and Barb have up their sleeves for Amanda. Wow!July 20, 2010 – 12:34 AM

  • Ulysses - You know… truth be told, we’re seriously considering bringing that to our team as soon as we can ensure we have enough cap room for him. His talents are going to bring us all the way to the championship! Oh wait… I’m mixing careers there. LOL! Thanks so much, Doug! I can’t even tell you how great it was to see you and Amy again. And CONGRATS on the second baby soon to arrive! You both look so happy. Oh… BTW, best speech EVER! 🙂July 14, 2010 – 12:14 PM

  • Doug - The first 9 are pretty good…. but that last photo is really something. The guy who took that one is a true artist.July 14, 2010 – 12:08 PM

  • Ulysses - Jacquelyn, one of our most eagerly anticipated joys was to be able to see you and Tom again. You looked absolutely amazing, too (no surprise there). I’m sorry we didn’t get to talk quite as much as we would have liked, but I’m glad we got to catch up at least a little. There was this little destination wedding going on, and there were LOTS of family to photograph. LOL!! So I know you understand. But I sincerely hope we get together again in the near future. We’ll be sure to keep in touch. All the best to you both! 🙂July 13, 2010 – 12:46 AM

  • Jacquelyn - Thanks for sharing the 10 beautiful pictures, love them all! So good to see you both at the wedding!July 11, 2010 – 9:02 PM

  • Ulysses - Thanks so much, Barbara! We had an unbelievably great time with Allison & Dan, and the entire family. It all went by much too quickly. Rest assured, there are plenty more coming. This was just a tiny sampler. All our best to you all. 😉July 8, 2010 – 10:52 PM

Even though it was our first time meeting Andrea & Justin face-to-face, we felt as though we’d known them for quite a while. They love taking walks around the town of Princeton, NJ, so it was an ideal place to join them for their engagement photo session. Keeping them close and connected in the middle of Princeton University’s beautiful camps was a true joy, and we loved how Andrea’s elegance and their mutual warmth shone through in the photos. Their wedding day at The Venetian is going to be fabulous!

When we first met Erin & George, we were ALL so excited about the prospects of working together that our first day of shooting couldn’t come soon enough! This beautifully upbeat couple truly put their hearts and devotion to one another into their session. Erin even went shopping in NYC and came away with an amazing new outfit chosen just for our shoot. Awesome! We love the way they allowed us to play with the evening’s dramatic light. Best of all, we had a great time simply getting to know them even better. And now it’s their wedding day at the Tides Estate that can’t come soon enough. Can’t wait to do this again with them!

We’ve known Jean for a long time now, as she was one of the friendliest of people we’d ever met at one of our favorite local venues. We used to talk even then about what her own wedding would someday be like. So what an exciting privilege it was when she actually called to ask us to be her wedding photographers! We couldn’t be more thrilled for Jean & Michael. They’d first met at a local Hannaford grocery store, so Jean called the same store to ask if we could have a little photographic fun there. They not only said “yes”, but even brought in a little extra help to clean up and restock the fruit & veggie bins just for our photo shoot. 🙂

Thanks so much to Hannaford for letting us have fun there with this fantastic couple. It gave an entirely new meaning to shopping for the best produce! We can’t wait for Jean & Michael’s beautiful wedding day. 🙂

  • stacy - great!!! love the location, nice work…July 5, 2010 – 2:40 PM

For years now Jamie & Paul have been some of our favorites to photograph, from their engagement photos to their beautiful wedding, and on into their growing family as we got to know their their newborn son, Ryan. Jamie recently sent the most heartwarming story and kindly gave us permission to share it here:

Just a few days ago while getting my haircut, the newborn photos of Ryan started flashing through my head. I wanted to come home immediately and watch the DVD of his newborn session.

I enjoyed the photos with Ryan and even had to capture his first viewing of the photos on camera! I thought I would share a few of those shots with you both! He was kissing the computer!!

You both know already how much I admire your art. But today’s moment of sharing the photos with Ryan made me so thankful for having these photos. I know I have a very special treasure for him — one that he can look back upon for many years to come and see just how much he has been loved from the moment he entered this world.

I hope you enjoy a few shots from one of your youngest fans!

A heartfelt thanks to Jamie and little Ryan for reminding us yet again of the precious value of truly meaningful photography. It’s why we love what we do!

More with Jamie & her family.

We were really happy to meet up with Sora & Alexander for their engagement photos. During the month of June, there’s never any accounting for what the weather might do. But this cute couple took a chance and braved the forecast of impending thunderstorms. And what do you know!! The weather actually held up, while accommodating us with some dramatic changes between clouds and sunshine throughout their fun shoot. We’re each looking even more forward to their wedding day at the Inn at Fox Hollow.

From the time we first met with Nicole & Tom, we knew we wanted to be their photographers. The reason why is easily seen in their photos. We love seeing their sometimes-quirky-but-always-cool approach to one another and to life. Whether sharing a date at an arcade or a romantic walk through a field of wild grass, they gave us insight into what a special couple they are. Photographing their wedding at the fabulous Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers is one of our most eagerly anticipated autumn events.

Anna & Javier are excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first baby, and we couldn’t be happier for them! After having photographed their engagement session and their wedding, we were practically bouncing up and down ourselves at the chance to photograph Anna’s baby bump. Documenting this beautiful couple’s deep love for one another has become one of our most joyous experiences, and we’re counting the days until we meet Liliana when she finally arrives. 🙂
