We had an exciting time with Melissa & Alex for their engagement photo session! They were perfect partners, bringing out the best in one another for the photos. We loved not only the couple themselves, but also the way they let us play extensively with the dramatic light and shadows the day provided. Melissa pulls off casual glam like nobody’s business, and Alex… well, what a fantastic leading man he was!Β Alex and I had a great time talking about Thomas Dean designer shirts… good man!! We’re so happy they’re enjoying their photos in so many artistic ways throughout their home. We really look forward to their summer wedding at The Garrison. Feel free to leave a comment below and let them know that you “Like” their photos as much as we do!
We were so excited to finally meet this great couple, whose wedding is rapidly coming up this summer in Albany.Β And what better place to meet a NY couple than in Central Park? It was a delightful afternoon. They enjoyed a picnic of cheese and crackers and wine, and were joined by their really cool mastiff mix, Rufus. Their excellent preparation really paid off for a great looking shoot. We’re so glad they loved so many of their photos and now eagerly anticipate their wedding day even more!

We had a great time with Erika & Mick during their photo session! Near their home is a large park where they enjoy spending time together. This served as the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos.Β Since they are getting married this autumn at the Onteora Mountain House, with it’s beautiful rustic setting, they wanted their engagement photos to be unique by featuring their urban hometown and the beautiful NYC skyline. Enjoy!

Kim, thank you! This is exactly what we love to hear because it’s our ultimate goal. In fact, each year we get many already married couples who come to us for a fun Lifestyle Session similar to this one, full of fun and joy and liveliness, sometimes as an anniversary gift to one another. Let us know when you’re ready for your own! Would love to talk with you about some fantastic concepts. π -

When Christine described her upcoming shoot as her “Cinderella day”, we knew it was going to be a spectacular experience for each of us. They wanted photos that would highlight their love of dance and classic Hollywood romance. The amount of advance preparation they put into their session really showed us how much they valued photography! Both Christine and Dom simply radiated throughout the shoot, and they could pull off any look we gave them. Since Christine is a designer and artist herself, she made adorable signs to use in the photos. I just love the handmade touch. We can’t wait for their upcoming summer wedding at The Tides Estate.

I can’t even describe how excited I was when my beautiful hair stylist, Ada, told me she was engaged! But when Ada and Jim chose us as her photographers, that put my excitement over the top.Β It only got better when we got together for their engagement session. Meeting Ada’s adorable daughter, Katie, was also a a privilege.Β We know their wedding at Benmarl Winery this summer is going to be an event to remember.

Ada, You are truly someone special. When Jenni first told me about you and Jimmy, she said, “You’re really going to like her. A lot.” Jenni is usually right about these things, but this time she was wrong. Because I absolutely LOVE you and your family! LOL! What a beautiful gift you have in Katie and Jimmy. We couldn’t be happier than to be your family’s photographers. Can’t wait to see you again! We’re so glad you’re so thrilled with your photos. -

We had the tiniest visitor this morning, who eagerly posed for her closeups. Her legs and antennae were so fine, I could barely even see them until I took out my camera to see her up close. Amazing little creature. π
Online tweets from our happy clients are certainly exciting to read. But hand-written notes of thanks can be the sweetest “tweets” of all. Erika & Michael put a lot of thought and preparation into their session, and we had a fabulous time exploring their town together. We received a lovely note from Erika & Michael immediately afterward:
Dear Jenni and Ulysses,
Thought we would send you a note to let you two know how much we appreciate you coming down here to visit with us. You made us feel so comfortable, and most important, we really had a lot of fun! Looking forward to seeing you at the viewing.
Michael and Erika
We’re definitely anxious to see these two again for their big photo Reveal in our home studio, where they’ll enjoy their first look at the photos and experience some fun and inspiring ways to make use of them! π
After a trip to visit family, we’re back in the office taking care of client emails, designing books and albums and wall art, and doing more of our favorite thing — photographing YOU! We’re having a fast-paced and fabulous 2010, and we hope all our wedding and portrait clients are enjoying the same. We really enjoy when we can go back with a couple to the very spot where they got engaged, which is exactly what we did with Amber & Matt. I love each and every photograph! If the engagement pictures were this hard to choose from I cannot imagine what it will take to choose our wedding pictures!
From the second we arrived and saw Michelle’s beaming blue eyes and brilliant smile in the doorway, so eager for us to begin, we knew it was going to be an incredible day. We were so right. When Dan saw her for the first time, he couldn’t help but be completely moved by how radiant she looked. The entire day was full of happy emotions all around, elements of Irish and Italian songs and dance and traditions, and a couple who were easily as interested in taking fashionable photographs as we were. Another favorite highlight was seeing Michelle & Dan’s choreographed first dance, which drew a perfect “10” from the bridal party judges. What a marvelous day!

Your joy happiness and love totally shone through for all to see. It brings a tear to my eyes and warms my heart each time I look at these. Keep that with you always!!!!! AND a wonderful time was had by all!! Love you guys! -

These are the most magically radiant wedding photos I have ever seen. I think the wind blowing was a blessing — the profile photo of Michelle and Dan with her veil embracing the wind is absolutely breath-taking! The ceremony, festivities and all the gracious friends and family sharing in the celebration were unforgettable and will hopefully create priceless memories for years to come for a truly spectacular couple, Michelle and Dan!! How do we love Ulysses & Jenni, let us count the ways!! They are the sweetest couple who make us feel fabulous!! As I sat at the beauty salon the morning of our wedding, I watched the rain pour down, but all I could think was, I can’t wait to see my flowers, my dress and my photographers. Ulysses & Jenni have an amazing ability to make us feel relaxed, beautiful, and happy and oh yeah did we mention the pictures!!!! If this is just a sampling of their magic, we are eagerly awaiting the rest!!! We love you guys!!!
Amanda & Tony brought a lot of fun and energy to their engagement session. Gorgeous photos, as always!
Genevieve & John’s wedding at Tarrytown House Estate was one of our absolute favorite of the 2009 year. After photographing such a wonderful day, it’s incredibly gratifying to know how happy this lovely couple is with their photos and album. Genevieve recently shared the following five-star review on Project Wedding:
A month after becoming engaged, we began our search for a photographer and stumbled across Ulysses Photographyβs website. We were immediately blown away by the images we saw there, which conveyed so much pure love and joy! The sense of calm and happiness in the photographs was so real, it felt as though we knew these couples and their love story.
I sent an email inquiry to see if my wedding date was available and to my excitement Jenni wrote back almost immediately to say it was. We set up a time to meet the following week.
From the moment I met Ulysses and Jenni, I knew they were βthe onesβ! Every photograph they showed me was so beautiful and packed with emotion. Your photographer spends the whole day with you, so it is important that you like them! Not only do I love Ulysses and Jenni, I felt like I had known them for years after our first meeting. The comfort and confidence they inspire in their couples leads to amazing images. My fiancΓ© and I had so much fun at our engagement portrait session and the guest book they created out of the images is gorgeous! The head of catering at our wedding venue told me that heβd never seen such a beautiful guest book.
Planning a wedding in NY when living in CA is not easy, but Jenni kept in touch with me every step of the way. She helped me develop a timeline that worked for our wedding day, and even recommended amazing vendors for hair and makeup! On our wedding day I hardly noticed them but they captured every image we could have wanted. Jenni even helped me straighten my train right before I walked down the aisle, and then helped me bustle my gown between the ceremony and reception! All of my guests kept telling me that Ulysses seemed like the happiest person at our wedding π Ulysses and Jenni are so much more than photographers, and the final result really surpassed our (very high) expectations. Our album is gorgeous and we will treasure it always!
Thank you Ulysses and Jenni for all of your hard work, warm wishes, and photographs that we will always cherish!
It was pleasure and complete honor to spend the day with this adorable couple creating beautiful images. At Project Wedding you’ll find many more reviews from excited brides and grooms who are happy to talk about their experiences with Ulysses Photography. Take a look at the reviews, enjoy the work at our website, and then contact us as soon as possible to talk about your wedding or portrait needs!
What do you get when you combine flagons, dragons, castles, medieval braided hair, sword swallowing, and belly dancing? You get Valerie & Mike’s amazing Renaissance-themed wedding, that’s what! Even our engagement photo session with them was done at one of their favorite castles, so their personalized guest book was filled with fun photos that fit them perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed this amazing couple, their fantastic family & friends, and the unique details of their wedding day!

Ulysses, I grew gorgeous deep blue delphinium when we first moved to our house & I dried it & framed it, it is still as deep & rich in color now hanging on a wall, as it was in the garden, 12 years ago! -

Thank you, Maryann! We wanted to provide something really special for them. BTW, delphinium are some of my personal favorite flowers! We used to grow them when we lived at another place, but haven’t yet tried them in our current little garden. -

Ulysses & Jenni, These photos – I LOVE them! You both are so great!
We always get really excited when we have the chance to see one of our past wedding couples at a wedding. Well, it’s even better when we get to see their whole family! When Jamie told me her little sister was getting married, we were completely honored and thrilled to join them for another big family event.Β Carrie & Dustin’s wedding was full of joy, family closeness, and even more love than we anticipated.
The week before the wedding, Carrie had been joking about losing her head.Β Since we know Carrie & Dustin don’t like things to be too serious, we began our photo session with what we affectionately call our “headless bride” photo. (Carrie, thank you for being our very first “headless bride”. π ) Between the laughter, these two also gave us some beautiful and striking moments to shoot.

The day was entirely out of control, and in all the best ways possible. LOL. Carrie was simply gorgeous. And Dustin carries a tux really, really well! This fun couple made the 5-hour drive all the way down from Buffalo for their engagement session, which we did right in the same town where James proposed to Angela. When we asked about their favorite thing in their new hometown, they said, “Being together.” It’s that same togetherness that gave life to their photos. Angela & James: Thank you for being willing to climb rocks, navigate wet fields (even though Angela was wearing new wedges), and take on any pose with such style. It was so worth it! We’re going to have a spectacular time together at Round Hill this winter!

Jenni & Ulysses, Just adore Angela & James engagement photos! They are the BEST! Such a sweet couple! Very much looking forward to their wedding! Maryann
Michele & Matt put so much thought into their wedding plans and details. It’s no surprise to us that the site Best Hudson Valley Wedding Ever chose to feature their elegant wedding and celebration at Onteora Mountain House for the latest in their series of Real Weddings. Michele & Matt, you’re famous yet again! We’re so happy for you two. π
You might remember Rebecca & Ed after reading about Jenni recently placing in the Top 20 in a contest with one of their wedding photos (congrats, babe!). But words like the ones we received in a beautiful card from this awesome couple are absolutely priceless, worth more to us than any accolades.
Dear Jenni & Ulysses,
We love our wedding album! It is an amazing compilation of memories. We love it so much that no one is allowed to see it without one of us turning the pages with our white gloves on.
We could not imagine having better photographers / wedding consultants / friends for our wedding day. You guys were always there to answer any last-minute questions and offer thoughtful advice whenever we were looking for answers. You went above and beyond what a wedding photographer is supposed to do, and we could not be more grateful for that.
One of the best things about you both as professionals is your unobtrusive style. We were able to enjoy every moment of the best day of our lives without posing. The pictures show the true emotion and joy we felt. Thank you for helping to capture our wedding day in a timeless and intimate way.
We hope to see you both again soon.
Love,
Rebecca & Ed
We love this! Oh, there was minimal posing involved on occasion, but we disguised it really, really well so you wouldn’t even know. π
Becca & Ed, we sincerely hope we soon get the chance to photograph with and see you again! Thank you VERY MUCH for letting us be a part of your day’s memories.
Many of our readers will remember Rachel & Ross from when we photographed their wedding a few years back. They are now the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl named Maya. We were thrilled to meet her and quickly fell in love with her red hair and natural highlights, alert blue eyes, and sweet voice. Her mom couldn’t believe it, telling us this was the most awake she’d seen her yet! At just a week old, Maya has already made herself right at home with her parents and the puppies. It was such a privilege to spend time with each of them again and document their growing family.
-

Muchos gracias, Jessica! Their puppies are very much family to them, as well. We wanted a beautiful, relaxed way to show off their entire family. It was our last shot of the day, one for which we’re really glad we made the time. π -
