New York Wedding Photographer – Ulysses Photography Blog » artistic. unobtrusive. fashionable. fun.

It makes us feel great to get such enthusiastic words as we did from Michele & Matt. We just had to share it here.

Dear Jenni & Ulysses

How do we even begin to thank you for capturing our BIG day so elegantly? We love, love, LOVE your work – you’re just so talented! We could not ask for a more beautiful wedding album. Thank you for making us feel confident, comfortable, and plain old happy every step of the way. Jenni, your advice and prompt feedback throughout wedding planning was priceless! THANK YOU!

Love,
Michele & Matt

Michele & Matt, the honor was entirely ours. We hope we get to spend time like this again with you as your family grows.

We don’t often have as much time for image and print competitions as we’d like. However, when we do enter a few, we try to make sure they’ll count. This time I’m so proud of Jenni, whose entry placed in the top 20 for ISPWP Winter 2009 Contest, in the HUMOR category. Congrats to all the fine artists who submitted hundreds of samples of beautiful work. But I want to send my biggest and most loving shout out to my amazing wife, Jenni! 🙂

  • Ulysses - Annie & Bill, thank you!!! Exclamation points are appreciated! Each and every one of them!!! 🙂March 22, 2010 – 7:03 PM

  • Ulysses - Michele, it always means a lot when it comes from you. Thanks from the both of us. 🙂March 22, 2010 – 7:03 PM

  • HollandPhotoArts - Whoo-hoo!! You go, Jenni! What a FUN shot! Sorry for all the exclamation points, I just can’t help myself when it comes to you two! 😀March 18, 2010 – 12:04 AM

    Congrats!March 16, 2010 – 2:24 AM

Weddings with such cool people as Rebecca & Ed really make our day. And Rebecca’s very kind words just blow us away.

We met Jenni and Ulysses at our good friends’ wedding and when we got engaged, they were at the top of our list. Although we were nervous about the cost, we couldn’t find another photographer with the same quality or enthusiasm. Once we signed with them, we never thought twice and firmly believe it is one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning.

Jenni and Ulysses are first and foremost awesome people. They love what they do and their enthusiasm is infectious. From our first engagement shoot to receiving our album, it was as if we were with two of our good friends. We felt so comfortable with them that we were able to enjoy every moment, forget about the camera in front of us, and let our true emotions shine through – they even taught us how to “smile with our eyes”! Their style is a unique; if you can blend hip, modern, intimate, and classic, you would wind up with their style. This is why we love our wedding album and all of the pictures so much; they capture how we felt that day and we have countless “favorites.”

Throughout our wedding planning process, Jenni and Ulysses were there. They helped us plan our photography, but we also asked them to recommend other vendors or tossed ideas off of them. At times they acted as our much needed pseudo wedding planners. All of our friends and family rave over our photos. They are also incredibly fast – we had our thank you notes less than 2 months after the wedding and our album in 5 months (and we weren’t very good about doing things as quickly as we should have).

We hope to see Jenni and Ulysses again soon and recommend them to all of our friends. Your wedding is such an emotional day – make sure to hire photographers that will capture your feelings, not just faces.

  • Ulysses - Aww, thanks, Jess! We had a truly unique day with Rebecca & Ed. So much genuineness and culture. Besides the sheer fun factor of this couple, it was an enriching experience to be a part of the day.March 4, 2010 – 12:27 PM

  • jessica - that’s cause your the best! 🙂 Lovely details and emotions in this wedding.March 3, 2010 – 2:19 PM

We’re a huge fan of Victoria & Steven. They’ve continued to keep in touch with us following their wedding, even after the birth of their TWIN boys. So we deeply appreciated Victoria’s kind words and rave about us, as seen on ProjectWedding.com.

I knew from the moment I saw their photos of a wedding at Snug Harbor that I wanted Ulysses Photography for my wedding. I started up a conversation with them via phone and felt comfortable right from the start. Feeling comfortable with the people who will be responsible for capturing some of the most personal and important moments of your life is so important.

Once we actually met for our engagement session photos, I knew without a doubt that these are wonderful people. People who I would invite over for dinner, and want to be friends with!!

And the photos?? Well, what can I say? I am in love with them. Our album is PERFECT. The husband and wife team, for me was the clincher. The fact that they are taking photos from two different perspectives, the male and the female, and from two different simultaneous locations is so special! I recommend them without hesitation.

Spending an afternoon with Meridith and her family is just like playtime. So when we visited with her parents, Jesyca & Bill, along with her big brother, Alexander, we knew we were in for a fun afternoon of toys and books and happy rolling on the floor. Her blue eyes have gotten brighter, her hair wavier, her playful attitude even more fun, if you can even imagine that. She simply gets cuter every time we see her. What an unbelievable privilege to get to know her over the course of her entire First Year!

  • Ulysses - Jessica!!!! OMG(oodness), the day you guys announce that you’re having a baby, I will hitchhike, steal a plane, rent a unicycle, or hop on the back of Olympian speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno to get there to photograph that blessed event. I know you’d do the same for us. LOL 😀February 17, 2010 – 9:34 AM

  • Ulysses - Jesyca, the Momma! LOL, I like the way that sounds! I know you’ve been at this for a while now, but seeing it written there makes it seem so “official”. Jes, we certainly know how meaningful photos are to you. Your home is literally FILLED with photos of the people and things you love most. It’s always such an inviting place because you fill it with such heart and soul. Being able to document your lives is one of our very favorite things. The kids are the sweet little cherries on top. 🙂February 17, 2010 – 9:31 AM

  • jessica - That first photo is outta this world good. That is a photo I would die to have if I had a baby. 🙂February 16, 2010 – 3:32 PM

  • momma - Wow Wow & Triple Wow!!! Once again, you have caught the spirit of my children, our family & our house even! What an amazing photo history my children will have because of you guys! And it looks like Bill might have a future in photography!February 16, 2010 – 3:06 PM

We first met Allison & Dan several years ago when we photographed Dan’s brother’s wedding.  We then met up again last year when we photographed Allison’s sister’s wedding.  So you can imagine how excited we were when they called us up to photograph their own!  We can’t wait for their wedding day this July at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs. It’s going to feel like a big family reunion for us.

Even though the day of their engagement session was freezing cold, we found some relief in the basement of a very cool winery  and were able to create some amazing art pieces for them.

  • Rich - Great photos! Really like #2.February 15, 2010 – 8:42 PM

  • Ulysses - Jacquelyn!! It’s so great to hear from you again! No surprise that a beautiful sky certainly capture your attention. I’m glad we had such beautiful conditions at the very end of our session. It was pretty cold out, and we didn’t want our latest celebs to develop rosy cheeks and noses in the photos. Can’t wait to see you and Tom again, too. It’s going to be major reunion time! 🙂February 10, 2010 – 11:10 PM

  • Ulysses - Allison, we’ve been downright giddy about this session. You and Dan each worked for it, too! We were also excited to see just how pumped Dan was about seeing the photos. This was such a winning session. 🙂February 10, 2010 – 11:06 PM

  • Jacquelyn - Yes, I already ordered a print! I knew that all the pictures would be great in that setting with two professional photographers! But as soon as I saw the close up with the blue sky, I knew that was my favorite!! Great job and I cant wait to spend July 4th with you both, this is becoming a tradition!February 10, 2010 – 6:49 PM

  • Allison - Thank you guys so much for the great session and for posting them! We were so excited to see the photographs again and my family has already started ordering. Go figure, Jacquelyn liked the one that I liked outside with us looking up at Ulysses!February 10, 2010 – 5:05 PM

  • Ulysses - I know!!! Isn’t that awesome? We really loved photographing with these two. 🙂February 10, 2010 – 2:36 PM

  • jessica - What a cool location! I love #3 under that Moroccan light!February 10, 2010 – 2:29 PM

Please excuse us if you’ve had problems emailing us or connecting to our site. We’re in the process of making lots of changes to both our website and blog. We’re also changing the server on which these are hosted. We’re excited about all the changes taking place. However, we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be patient with us while we make improvements. Believe me, it’s all going to be worth the wait.

We’ve known Carrie & Dustin for a long time now, having photographed her sister’s wedding a few years ago. So it was with great excitement that we got together with this really fun couple to focus exclusively on them and how they feel about one another. They brought Brooklyn along for their photo session, and it was very easy to see why this cute Maltese is such an important part of their lives.

Their spring wedding at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill is going to be a fabulous affair, and we can’t wait to join them.

When you work with the perfect people for your sense of style, beauty, and romance, then you’ll find your experience is nothing less than … well … PERFECT. A heartfelt THANK-YOU to our couples for their generous raves and for choosing Ulysses Photography.

Melissa & Mark have thrilled us from Day #1 with their energy and style. We were so happy to receive a kind note from them and wanted to share it here:

Jenni & Ulysses,

Where do we start to thank our favorite vendors? Your reputation is stellar, and it is very well-deserved. We could not have been more happy with you and your brilliant work. You were able to capture the most beautiful moments in the most beautiful way, and we are so appreciative. You are both  professionally and personal, and you felt more like guests than vendors.

We will meet again – my friends love you, and I’ll be seeing you at their weddings! Or who knows, maybe a baby session?…

With sincerest thanks,
Melissa  & Mark

Kind words from Melissa

More with Melissa + Mark.

There’s no doubt about it. Allie absolutely LOVES photography. And we absolutely love photographing with Allie & Traver. They both put a lot of thought into the look and mood they wanted for their photo session, and she asked that we come out to a beautiful horse farm that had wide-open spaces and plenty of variety in the scenery to showcase their personalities and genuine enthusiasm about their relationship. They also brought along their friendly nine-year-old German Shepherd, Ozzie, for a portion of the session. He turned out to be a big teddy bear. It was a perfect way to spend the late autumn season.

We had such a blast with this down-to-earth couple, and our own excitement about their upcoming wedding at the Pearl River Hilton is growing even more, especially after their fabulous photo shoot.

Emotion, beauty, romance, and overflowing joy – this wedding had it all! We had such a fabulous day with Genevieve & John and their families and friends, that it’s been a delight to relive it all over again with their photos. We can’t thank these two enough for spending time with us to create amazing images. We know you’ll love them as much as we do. So without any further delay, here is a little preview for your enjoyment:

We can’t wait to share all their photos! Their entire wedding photo gallery will be available in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website shortly. Feel free to leave a comment for the happy couple or for us by clicking the “Comments” link at the top of this entry.

  • Five Star Review On Project Wedding » New York Wedding Photographer – Ulysses Photography Blog - […] Genevieve & John’s wedding at Tarrytown House Estate was one of our absolute favorite of the 2009 year. After photographing such a wonderful day, it’s incredibly gratifying to know how happy this lovely couple is with their photos and album. Genevieve recently shared the following five-star review on Project Wedding: A month after becoming engaged, we began our search for a photographer and stumbled across Ulysses Photography’s website. We were immediately blown away by the images we saw there, which conveyed so much pure love and joy! The sense of calm and happiness in the photographs was so real, it felt as though we knew these couples and their love story. […]April 23, 2010 – 12:37 PM

It’s time for another installment of Jesyca & Bill’s gorgeous baby girl, Meridith! We just love watching her grow, and we know our regular blog readers do, too. We had a lot of fun with her and the entire family during this latest shoot. Meridith’s baby blue eyes don’t miss a single thing happening around her at any given time. And she’s so bright and expressive, making it a joy to photograph her. Here are some of the latest photos!

We get so excited when a couple not only wants to turn us loose for some creative photo opportunities, but also prepares themselves well with plenty of fun details and ideas, as well as sets aside TIME to actually make those things happen. This sort of preparation made Katie & Don’s day an absolute delight to photograph. Katie’s fur stole, her birdcage veil, and their choice of several great shooting locations made for a wonderful photographic adventure, and they were clearly just as thrilled about it as we were. Even the rain and wind held up for us, so we were able to enjoy the spectacular autumn view with them.

Another highlight of the day was their fabulously choreographed first dance. You could see on their faces just how much they were enjoying the routine. The standing ovation from their fans let them know how much everyone else enjoyed it, too. Katie & Don, thank you so much for choosing us, and for letting us have such a fun day with you!

We can’t wait to share all the photos! Their entire wedding photo gallery will be available shortly in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website.  Please click the “Comments” link at the top of this entry to leave your thoughts!

Even though we’ve only known Helena & David a short time, we knew their wedding day was going to be special. This event was all about the people the people they love most, with Helena’s family flying in from the Philippines, and lots of close family and friends surrounding them. The pictures speak volumes about Helena & David’s strong bonds of affection, as well as their love for their family and guests.

The full gallery will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. Please leave us or the happy couple your comments by clicking the “Comments” link immediately above this entry.

Jennifer & Jason’s wedding day was such a blast for everyone who had a share in it. Jennifer looked stunning even before her gown was put on, and her eyes lit up with excitement at the prospect of seeing Jason just a few moments after our arrival. In a break from tradition, they saw one another in a private Reveal session, so they could enjoy a warm embrace and talk together about their thrilling day to come. It was a just beautiful seeing their emotive reaction to one another.

The rest of the day was just as enjoyable for everyone. There were plenty of friends and family gathered at The Grandview for the indoor ceremony in the main ballroom area, followed by a fabulous party hosted by one of our very favorite DJs. It was a wonderful day (and night) to remember. Jen & Jason, we couldn’t have been happier than to be there with you and your families. Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of the day, and for taking such good care of us with a tasty meal.

We had a gorgeous autumn day for Michelle & Dan’s engagement photos, and everything was simply perfect. The fall colors  were a beautiful complement to Michelle’s red hair. Dan’s fun and energetic personality kept everyone smiling and laughing throughout. Ever since first meeting them last spring, we’ve been looking forward to working with this really sweet couple. Our time with them was every bit as much fun as we expected. We anxious to show them the beautiful results. We can’t wait for their wedding at Sinapi’s Ceola Manor next May!

We’re enjoying the peak foliage season as the warm tones begin to come to New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley region. We’ve had opportunity to take some beautiful photos even though the weather has sometimes been a bit rainy. It doesn’t at all dampen our excitement, nor that of our awesome couples. After all the shooting, we’re very busy catching up on office work and working as fast as we can to develop the photos for your enjoyment. It will be a few more days, but we’ll have some blog previews and galleries available from the weddings of Jennifer & Jason, Helena & David, and Katie & Don as soon as we’re able! We promise it will be worth the wait! 🙂
