Dory & Jon were probably just as excited as we were for this e-session. Both have such a nice laid-back sense of humor, and this helped them to enjoy their session to its full potential. They really are a perfect pair together. Each of them love the outdoors and wide-open spaces, so the wooded park at which we met was ideal for them.

They were great photographic models, too. Dory looked fantastic, and they each brought a change of clothing to change up their look for different segments of our shoot. It was a great preview of things to come. We eagerly await their wedding day in the autumn at the Full Moon Resort.

Enjoy these sneak peeks at their photos. The complete gallery will be made available in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. As always, we love hearing from our readers, so please click on the “Comments” link above this blog entry to leave your thoughts and greetings.

Gianluca #039There are few things more fulfilling for a wedding photographer than to be invited back over the course of time to watch a couple’s growing family. You can imagine our excitement at FINALLY getting to meet Vivian & John’s little baby boy, Gianluca. Only a little over a week old, we simply allowed his pace (and his meal routine) to tell us when it was time to photograph.

Vivian & John, he’s a beautiful little bundle, and we couldn’t be happier for one of the most amazing couples ever. THANK YOU for asking us to share this experience. We know that wonderful things are yet in store for your beautiful family. We can’t wait to watch him grow.

Adam found himself literally in a front row seat while an unusually large and fierce tornado suddenly struck a community in Colorado.

While watching the incredible images of this story unfold on news sites such as MSNBC.com and CNN.com, I realized that I actually KNEW this reporter! He is one of our grooms from the 2007 wedding season! It was just AMAZING to see him in his element and in such an important role in helping his community by reporting and keeping us all up-to-date on how families there were affected by this event. We’re glad to see him so involved and active there and wish the best for him and his wife, Jill.

Our thoughts and wishes for safety go out to all those who suffered damage or worse from the tornado.

Get ready for the cutest cheeks you’ve ever seen! Ulysses and I had so much fun with Olivia, as she gave us a tour of her yard, showing us all the flowers she planted, the trees she could climb, and the bugs she was afraid of. An energetic little lady of great style, Olivia is almost constantly moving from one place and topic to another. We had a blast following her around and finding beautiful little moments that showed her personality. Enjoy the photos!

Since before we even met her, Andrea has been one of our biggest fans. When we read words like the ones she recently sent to us upon delivery of her wedding album, it reinforces our desire to do our best for each of our incredible couples.

I wanted to call you, but it’s very hard to speak when you’re hysterical crying!!! I just didn’t think I could cry again. But, I did. My album is just stunning and perfect! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! You are so incredibly talented and amazing. I am far beyond honored that you partook in our wedding day. I am mostly honored to call you two friends. My friends did an amazing job on our album. You can see the love that was put into the pictures. I love you guys and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect keepsake.

Now, onto my [print]…PERFECTION!!!!!!! I couldn’t have asked for something more breathtaking. It is absolutely beautiful. I already put it in our Frame. I love it so much!!! I knew which picture to choose and I knew that you should choose how it would look. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. We love you both a great deal and meeting you was just the beginning to an everlasting friendship!!

Love,
Andrea and Frank

Andrea and Frank, you took our breath away during both your wedding and your photo shoot. We’re so gratified to have been a part of it. Hugs from me and Ulysses!

Annmarie & Javier immediately impressed us with their shared excitement for photography. But we had no idea how much excitement we ourselves would feel as we did when photographing their engagement session. I am rarely left without words, but I think this time I’ll let the images speak for themselves with this little sneak peek. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Anna & Javier, thank you SO MUCH for spending the time with us. What an amazing session we had with you! You are each beautiful people. Your affection and passion for one another shows so clearly. It’s going to be such an amazing privilege to photograph your wedding day at Round Hill.

Look for their complete engagement gallery in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. We love hearing from our readers, so please leave us a note by clicking on the “Comments” link at the top of this blog entry.

  • Ulysses - Hey there, Jess! Thank you so much for commenting. That photo is one of my personal faves, too, as it’s one of those images from the day that I actually “hunted” for. First off, the conditions were not optimal for shooting in infrared when we initially began. We were actually about to wind up our session with a short walk to another area of the park, when the clouds began to part, and I started to develop a VERY good feeling about what was about to happen. We stopped only about midway to our destination. My guess is that they didn’t realize at the time why I was so excited. As I’m sure you know, the version on the blog here only hints at how completely gorgeous this photo would be in a large print. I was genuinely excited and then moved by it.

Thanks for picking that one out! It’s always great to hear from you.May 16, 2008 – 11:28 PM

Ulysses and I were so honored to be asked by Jen Cassaro of Masterpiece Video to take some portraits of her and her assistant for her website! We’ve really enjoyed working with Jen and Alyssa over the years. We know they have skill behind their cameras, so we were looking forward to getting them in front of ours! 🙂

They both prepared well for the session by getting gorgeous makeovers by Marisa Verdi (whom our faithful readers already know about), so all that was left was to bring out some of their fun personalities. Jen’s lovable companion, Sophie, was so cute and had no problem getting in on the action, too. Here are a few previews, and the rest of the gallery is now available in the “Client Proofs” area of our main site. Enjoy, and please feel free to leave your comments.

  • Ulysses - We had a fantastic time, Jen. I really do feel privileged that you asked us to take care of you for this shoot. It’s always incredibly meaningful to us when the subjects in our cameras are fellow photographers or others who work along with us in this amazing industry.

I know you’d never say it yourself, but you’re a gorgeous person. You were fantastic in front of the camera, and it really didn’t take much at all to bring out your fun personality. Everyone who comes to you will now get to see that!

Please give our love and warm regards to Sophie and to Alyssa, both of whom also ROCKED it!

Can’t wait to see how your website and blog progresses. Hope you’re having a GREAT year!

    Love and hugs from myself and Jenni.May 13, 2008 – 8:09 PM

  • Jen Cassaro - What can I say? Ulysses and Jenni rock! It was so weird to be in front of the camera instead of behind it and I have a new appreciation for the incredible results that they are able to achieve in their photographs with novices like me as their subjects!

Sophie and Alyssa were total pros as you can tell. And Jenni and Ulysses were themselves….relaxed as they always are; having just as much fun if not more than the folks they are shooting!

Thank you both so much for a great experience! I am so excited to put my bio up on my web page along with the photos of my “ALL-FEMALE” staff!

Gotta go- it’s time for Sophie to have her “pupperoni”.
    Love to you both….May 13, 2008 – 6:30 PM

When Canon USA offered me the opportunity to test some of their top-of-the-line camera gear, I was pumped to have the chance. We had a few exciting sessions coming up, which I knew would help put the camera and lenses through their paces with the way I like to shoot. But we also wanted to work into our schedule something unique and fun. After describing what we had in mind to Erica, the owner of Be Unique Boutique, we arranged to go to her shop for a bridal fashion session.

We needed a team that was completely on board with what we had in mind for the day, so we couldn’t have been more excited than to have Kimberly & Eric join us as models for the afternoon. Makeup and hair designs were by Mari Fandl (phone 845-591-8645), who we also absolutely LOVE and can’t say enough good things about. We were each ready to go!

Although it was a busy day for her shop, Erica helped us find a gorgeous gown to work with, and then we began our session.

It was a day for walking and window shopping, and Kimberly had brought a change of clothing and shoes. So once we left the shop, we decided to enjoy the afternoon with a walk down Main Street ourselves, taking advantage of this gorgeous day for shooting an incredible couple.

There are lots more photos from this fantastic session. You’ll find them in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. Have a look, and please leave us a note here! We love hearing from you.

Ulysses and I were so excited to finally meet Victoria & Steven! We had spoken extensively on the phone, and we just knew we were going to have a great time with them. This adorable couple were all sugared up from a cake tasting before their session, and literally had us laughing all the way through. 🙂 They also have the neatest story about how they met … over their love of cappuccino! They are both serious cappuccino aficionados and reviewers on yelp.com. They had been reading each other’s reviews for months, and then finally met at a Yelp event. They’ve been together ever since! So naturally, there will be a coffee theme at their upcoming July wedding.

Enjoy this preview while we prepare the rest of their gallery, which will be available soon on our main website under “Client Proofs,” and please feel free to post your comments.

And it’s fantastic seeing you simply EMOTE so freely as you did during your e-session. It bodes well for your wedding day, knowing that you feel so “yourself” while we simply enjoy ourselves with you! We cannot wait to join you both for your wedding! 🙂May 8, 2008 – 2:49 PM

  • Jenni - Victoria, we’re so glad you enjoyed it! You two are so much fun in front of the camera. 🙂 I agree with you about the first shot – Ulysses did a great job enhancing it. The entire gallery is now released, so go enjoy!!!May 8, 2008 – 8:19 AM

  • Victoria - We had a super fun time too, and just knew we would feel comfortable with the two of you. Even so…you made it so easy to be ourselves 😀

What a gorgeous wedding day Kerri and Nick enjoyed! You simply could not have asked for better weather in the middle of April than 79 degrees and sunshine! That made for the perfect backdrop for a day full of family, friends, and lots of laughter. The church was packed with hundreds of people as Kerri and Nick said their vows to each other.

Kerri and Nick don’t stand on tradition, so after the ceremony we headed to a nearby restaurant for clams on the half shell in honor of Kerri’s dad – it was his favorite place to eat. We then went to the scenic Hoboken waterfront for pictures, after which the party continued all evening at the Hyatt Morristown. Kerri and Nick, we hope you’re having a wonderful time now on your honeymoon!

Please enjoy the preview slideshow while we prepare the rest of the online proof gallery. It will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. Feel free to leave your comments here for us or for Kerri & Nick by clicking on the “Comments” link at the top of this blog entry.

ISPWPRecently we were invited and accepted as members of the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers). We couldn’t be happier about it! For a number of reasons, organizations like this are important for you to know about.

We have always encouraged the thought that you should not compromise when it comes to your choice of photography style, beautiful images, or the customer service you receive. After the wedding day, your wedding album becomes your first family heirloom. Excellent photography only increases in value over the years. So we know that while choosing a photographer can be overwhelming, you deserve a photographer that will give you confidence in your selection.

The ISPWP was formed by professional photographers with the following goals in mind:

  • Promote and showcase the talents of their members
  • Provide a resource for clients to find the best photographers in the business
  • Maintain high standards of membership in the areas of experience, professionalism, quality, integrity and customer service
  • Collaborate and share ideas to push the industry forward

Many of the members are personal friends and colleagues of ours, so we are very proud to be counted in their number. Make sure you check out this excellent and easy-to-use site. Enjoy the images and the inspiration there. And then give us a call! We’d love to talk about how our photography can add to the joy of your wedding experience.

(See our own primary listing for New York.)

  • Ulysses - Thanks so much for the kudos, Joe! It’s great to hear from you. We’re looking forward to seeing the growth of the ISPWP over the years.May 10, 2008 – 10:02 PM

  • Joe Milton - Ulysses, we’re thrilled to have you be a part of the ISPWP. Keep up the awesome work!May 10, 2008 – 6:31 PM

Style Me Pretty logo

There are lots of bridal blogs out there. But I have to say that one of the most impressive and stylishly-created resources available for brides is the Style Me Pretty site. When I first saw it, I was so excited to see their depth of coverage on various topics like choosing your color palette, unique fashion and presentation, how-to ideas, paper goods, inspiration boards, and so many other areas related to your wedding. Another great feature is their Little Black Book, an exlusive “one-stop source for the best wedding vendors in your city.” Ulysses and I are especially honored and totally excited to have been selected for inclusion in their short list of photographers for the Lower Hudson Valley of New York.

Little Black Book blurbThe Style Me Pretty site is also listed in Martha’s Circle, which is Martha Stewart’s own short list of favorite blogs to visit. If you’re looking for some of the very best photographers, vendors, or inspiration for your wedding, Style Me Pretty is definitely the place to visit! Keep them bookmarked in your browser or news reader.

Rachel & Ross had the perfect wedding day. The incredible Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, overjoyed and smiling parents, a super fun wedding party, and plenty of opportunities for amazing photography all came together for a joyous celebration. It’s all there in their lovely wedding album, which is heading out for its new home with them today.

Thank you so much, Rachel & Ross. It’s not only your NAMES that we love, but we loved spending the day with you and creating this album for you. We know it’s going to bring back many great memories. Hugs for the puppies! 🙂

  • Ulysses - Rachel & Ross, we can hardly express how much your kind and happy words mean to us. Truly, both the wedding and the work on the album was a work of love. We very much enjoyed seeing all the detail you put into your wedding day. It was such a fantastically family-oriented affair, and we felt privileged to be allowed an inside glimpse into the faces and lives that have impacted you both over the years.

    We

    Cannot

    WAIT

for you two to experience parent-hood, so we can be there for your growing family someday soon. 🙂

Love you both. We’ll keep in touch. And please give our kind regards to your parents.May 13, 2008 – 10:50 AM

  • Rachel - Jenni and Ulysses –

The wedding album is absolutely beautiful! It could not be more perfect. You both did such a beautiful job capturing our wonderful wedding day, and we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to have these memories for the rest of our lives. Your pictures will decorate our walls for years to come. I hope to be in touch with you both, and I will recommend you to ANYONE getting married who wants the best photographers ever! We’ll be in touch for our first baby portraits (when the time comes;).

    With great appreciation,
    Rachel and RossMay 12, 2008 – 10:08 PM

Jamie and Paul had a spectacular wedding day. Not even the rain could dampen their excitement. We love the rain, too, because early showers usually mean the best light for photos is going to come later in the day. That’s exactly the way it turned out for their day, with incredibly dramatic storm clouds setting the backdrop for our photo session with the two of them. We’re so proud of the way their album has come together.

Andrea & Frank were the amazing couple that closed out our 2007 wedding season with a fabulous December wedding at the mansion estate of Skylands Manor. We knew from our very first meeting that Andrea would be a beautiful bride that we had to photograph, and that together she and Frank would be people who would always be very special to us. She recently sent the following note, which touched our hearts so much that we just had to share:

How are you? How is Ulysses??? How is everything? Before I get into my question, I just needed to tell you that I look at my pictures every day, and every day that I look at them I love you guys more and more and I just wanted to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for capturing the most amazing pictures on my wedding day. I have come to realize I am a girl of many expressions, and I find that cool 😉

Now to my question, I am in a huge conflict with myself and I really can’t pick out my Thank you’s. You guys make it impossible to choose 🙂

So, here are the ones I am torn between, and let me know if you have any suggestions, as well.

Andrea

(Click any image to see a larger version.)

Aren’t they the coolest couple?? Andrea’s final choice was the gorgeous image seen at the top of this blog entry. It’s one of our absolute favorites from their day because of its warm romantic mood and because of the inspiration from classic films of decades gone by. Click it to see it in better detail!

Andrea, you and Frank are, quite simply, amazing people. You inspire us with your passion for one another. We’re incredibly honored to know that you follow our blog regularly to keep up with the latest happenings with Jenni and myself.

We had such a good time photographing Vivian and Anna’s maternity sessions! And it’s the first time we’ve photographed two sisters for their maternity sessions. Both of them extremely beautiful, we loved the way their individual personalities played out during the photo shoot. So we wanted to share a few more images from their incredibly fun day of shooting.

Just click the PLAY button in the box below to begin the brief slideshow.

I honestly didn’t know where to begin choosing – we loved so many of their photos. But there will be LOTS more beauty and fun to be enjoyed in their complete galleries, available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website.

  • Ulysses - As much fun as we had with each of you as a couple, I have to say that probably some of my personal favorite moments were when we had Vivian and Anna together. It’s rare to find two sisters each so close in the timing of their pregnancies. And the images of the two of you standing back-to-back (the ones found in Anna & Jonathan’s gallery) are among the ones I most enjoyed. Two beautiful girls and their two beautiful bellies. Who could ask for more? You planned this just for us, didn’t you? LOL! 🙂April 11, 2008 – 10:27 AM

  • vivian miele - For Sure, Andrea! Jenni is right…let them be the first to know! In fact, we have Jenni and Ulysses’ phone # included in our birth plan, along with the pediatrician and health insurance carrier’s!!! I wish they could have even been in charge of taking the sonograms of the baby, as well…then they wouldn’t be so “out of focus”. (just kidding, of course) Best of luck to you!
    VivianApril 10, 2008 – 7:51 PM

  • Jenni - Aw, that’s so sweet!! We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed the slideshow! Aren’t they gorgeous?? It was a positively amazing day with them, and we’re just staring at their pictures over and over. We absolutely cannot wait until the little ones come along!!

Andrea, when the time comes, we want to be among the first to know. 😉April 10, 2008 – 6:44 PM

  • Andrea - I cried, that’s it! You did it to me again. That was one of my most favorite slide shows ever!!! Vivian and Anna are BEAUTIFUL and their pictures are so natural and fun and just amazing. LOVED everything about them. They gave me great ideas for when my day comes 😉

There has to be something so rewarding about photographing their wedding and then pregnancy, hopefully the little baby too. You’re both just so fantastic. Thank God you’re more than just amazing at snapping our greatest memories, but you’re amazing people as well.April 9, 2008 – 10:11 PM

We couldn’t believe it when we heard that Anna was pregnant at the same time as her sister, Vivian! She’s only about a month behind Vivian. So when we made plans for Vivian & John’s maternity session, we knew we had to have a maternity session for Anna & Jonathan, as well. This was going to be an incredible day of shooting!

Anna met us at Vivian & John’s home, and she brought along with her a few really cute changes of clothing so we’d have some fun and variety with the session. Not that it was needed – she and Jonathan are a complete blast together and made the shooting so much fun. They kept changing it up for us and were completely uninhibited in front of the camera.

Anna & Jonathan, we captured so many different looks for you, and I think you’re going to be completely blown away by how gorgeous you look. It was a complete joy to photograph the two of you again. I’ll be placing up another teaser to show a random selection of images from the entire day of shooting. Look for it soon!

Anna & Jonathan’s entire gallery will be available shortly in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. Stay tuned!

I can’t tell you how excited we were about getting together with Vivian & John again. Their wedding was among our most memorable from a couple years ago, and we were so happy when they asked about our photographing Vivian’s maternity session. John and Vivian were both there to greet us with warm hugs. Even their Labradors were enthused to see us!

Their lovely home served as the backdrop for all of our shooting. We could hardly believe Vivian has only another month to go before delivering their baby boy. She’s in great shape and feeling well, with the same beauty and grace that we loved about her from the time we first met them.

Vivian & John, we are so incredibly thankful to know you, and we share in the joy of your growing family. You both did a wonderful job. It felt just like old times photographing you again. I wanted to put up a quick teaser photo for you while I work on the rest of your gallery images. I’ll have a few more images from the day posted on the blog soon, so keep your browsers pointed here! The complete gallery will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. We can’t wait to show you!

  • Ulysses - Vivian, I think it’s wonderful to see how you and John have grown as a couple, and yet you’re just as comfortable and affectionate with one another — and probably even MORE so — as the day we first met you. It’s really beautiful to see. Your baby boy is going to have such a loving home to grow up in.

You make it really tough to choose images for posting to the blog. I really did end up choosing randomly, because there are so many personal favorites. These are like our “babies”. 🙂

We’d love to hear about your own favorites sometime. We love something different about each of them.April 11, 2008 – 10:21 AM

We had a fabulous time and know that that particular day is going to be cherished forever as both a celebration of the new babies to come and as a reunion with good friends! We love you guys!!!

The Schmicks were enjoying a few days with their children and grandchildren. Since everyone was together in one place, they called and asked if we would photograph their family portraits. We were more than happy to join them! We took advantage of the beautiful light and scenery at their lovely ranch-like spread before moving indoors for some individual family groupings.

We came highly recommended to them by the owners of Chateau Hathorn (a beautiful wedding venue, restaurant and bed & breakfast that you should definitely check out – the food is INCREDIBLE), who have known the Schmicks for years. We are so appreciative when others spread the word about us!

  • Marcus - this is a really nice portrait. I like the beautyfull cloudy backround and this nice hairlight. once again a perfect and personal picture!April 8, 2008 – 12:17 PM

It’s been just marvelous getting to know Jesyca & Bill over the past couple of years. We’ve had the opportunity to photograph their wedding, and then document their growing family from pregnancy and into little Alex’s first year of life. Part of the richness of our experience is getting to know their families, as well. So when Bill’s mother, Lorraine, called and asked us to come and take her family’s portraits, we jumped at the opportunity. Each of these folks is so down-to-earth that it was a real treat seeing them all again. And we just know that Lorraine’s mom is going to absolutely love the surprise gift of portraits of all her kids and grandkids!
