Neiman Marcus in White Plains, NY held a fabulous Cartier trunk show this week, and we were privileged to attend and photograph the event. Artfully presented hors d’oeuvres and martinis added to the smiles on the faces of the invited guests, who were delighted to come see and even try on signature jeweled accessories and watches.

The lights were up, and the runway was set for this exclusive show featuring Cartier jewels, as well as the incredibly gorgeous fashions from the Neiman Marcus store. We had a blast photographing the event and the lovely models, as well as getting to see some of our hardworking friends at Neiman Marcus. They really know how to put on a special event!

We had more gorgeous autumn weather for Heather & John’s engagement session, and we were so glad!  They’ve known each other since high school, and chose a park location that had special meaning for them.  We had an awesome early morning session with them. The lovely and peaceful surroundings were so enjoyable, allowing for fun as well as some quiet time together for them, and and plenty of opportunities for us to create some art.  We can’t wait for their wedding next month at The Eagle’s Nest!

Jennie & Kevin’s wedding day couldn’t have been more picture perfect! We loved the way her parents’ house was buzzing with energy and barely-contained excitement as she put the finishing touches on her preparation. The “oohs” and “ahhs” everyone uttered upon seeing her in her designer gown said it all. Before you knew it, the time came for the ceremony. The thunderous applause at their being announced as husband & wife was incredibly moving. Afterward, everyone in attendance – EVERYONE – joined us outside the church for a big group photo! And then the couple was whisked away to their reception.

We had the greatest joy in spending some time walking the grounds at Timber Point with our star couple as the golden sun was setting on the clear horizon. They convey not only romantic ease about themselves, but they also have a fantastic sense of humor, both qualities which worked so well for their private photo session. It was just beautiful to see.

Jennie & Kevin, we can’t tell you how much we enjoyed spending time with you again, along with your incredible families. We can easily see how much they love you both. We are so privileged and glad to have been a part of your awesome, awesome day. Thank you for your trust in us.

All of their wedding photos will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. In the meantime, enjoy these previews!

  • Jennie - We finally picked the pictures for the album, it was so hard, we wanted them all. We can not tell you enough times how beautiful they came out! You guys are the best, thank you again.November 4, 2008 – 9:27 PM

  • Ulysses - Thanks so much for the very kind words, Pat! I may be a little bit biased, but I have to agree with you wholeheartedly. I mean, just LOOK at these two! They were amazing to photograph. But more importantly, they’re wonderful people, and it was such a pleasure enjoying the day with them and their closest friends.

Enjoy the rest of the gallery! Hope to hear from you again sometime soon.October 21, 2008 – 5:57 PM

  • Pat Trainor - Dear Jennie and Kevin,
We had such a fabulous time at your wedding – the day , the place , the church and of course, the people were all fabulous. I love these pictures of you two – they belong in Bride magazine. I mean it! I’m so excited for the two of you. Best wishes for a wonderful life together. Can’t wait to see you guys again.

What do you get when you mix together the autumn-leaved Catskill Mountains, a sunny day, singing and laughter? Dory and Jon’s wedding! Dory & Jon met through eHarmony, and they are just so obviously RIGHT for one another. Once Jon saw Dory in a beautiful private meeting, I don’t think we saw them apart for more than a minute the entire day.

We have lots of great photos to share with everyone. They’ll be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website as soon as Dory & Jon return from their honeymoon. Enjoy these preview photos in the meantime!  And please feel free to leave your comments for us or the happy couple.

Ulysses and I had the privilege of being guests at the wedding of two good friends last weekend – what fun!  Since another of my friends, Jasmine, doesn’t normally wear much makeup, she came over beforehand so that we could do our makeup together.  She knows I’m crazy for M.A.C. Cosmetics, which were formulated specifically for photography.  So I pulled out my kit and we got to work.  We had fun and felt ready to party!

Makeup is a girl’s best friend! 🙂

Of course, Ulysses had to take a few pictures, so I thought you might enjoy the results.

  • Arianna - wow 14 weeks after i had a baby i still get a lot of help with good friends like u guys. thank uOctober 10, 2008 – 3:36 PM

    Love ya, JennOctober 10, 2008 – 12:14 PM

The month of October has been an incredibly busy but really enjoyable month. In the middle of all of the activity, Ulysses and I had a chance to visit with Rosemarie, owner and lead stylist of NY Prostyle. She is a professional beauty stylist for over 15 years, who has worked directly with celebrity hairstylist Frederic Fekkai. She specializes in both makeup and hair designs. Her artistry has been featured on television programs including The Oprah Winfrey Show and Live With Regis & Kelly.

It was very timely that Rosemarie kindly offered a makeup application session and gave me some new ideas to try, since we were going to be attending a wedding the following day (as guests!). I was happy to experience her airbrushing technique, as I’d never tried it myself. Rosemarie is just delightful, and I’m sure her friendly and easygoing nature would help de-stress any bride. Here are some photos from our enjoyable time together:

It seems like only yesterday that we watched Nicholas come into the world. Born a few weeks premature, he’s plumped up really nicely, showing just how well he and his family have done in the weeks that followed.

We all figured it was time to go out for a family portrait session. We took advantage of the beautiful weather before it gets to cold around here. Nicholas was happy to cooperate as long as he was fed, changed, and held nice and close. It was a great day for everyone. 🙂

For more photos and fun with Nicholas and his family, click this link.

  • Arianna - wow how we have grown as a family in just 14 weeks. As always u guys take awesome pics.

It really was an awesome day. Getting to spend time with you guys, seeing Nicholas enjoying himself, and everyone just having a great time with one another as a family was pure joy. 🙂

And Jen, you looked GREAT! Good colors for you. LOVED the hair. Just beautiful. In fact, everyone looked fantastic, and we’re really happy the photos during this session worked so well. We’ll have plenty to show your family soon.

    Love you guys!October 6, 2008 – 10:42 AM

Vera & Michael came to their engagement session ready for romance, with a healthy dose of fun dropped into the mix. It was an absolutely beautiful autumn day on the Hudson River, where they could enjoy the breeze, view the docked boats, and watch the flying seagulls.

We had such a good time with this cool couple and can’t wait for their wedding at the VIP Country Club.

From the time we met Debbie & Michael, we had a good feeling their wedding was going to be something special for everyone involved. In fact, the actual day outshone everyone’s expectations. Mike was dressed to the nines and could hardly contain himself as he prepped for the day. Debbie’s beautiful gown was just perfect for her, and she was positively radiant as she gathered her girls to head out for the ceremony.

Immediately following the ceremony, we accompanied the elated couple to the fabulous Westmount Country Club, where we stole away with them for an amazing photo shoot! We couldn’t have asked for better. Before we knew it, it was time for the cocktail hour and reception. Rich Italian and Jewish culture flavored the day and brought a happy excitement to their guests. The crowd went wild as Vinnie, one of Mike’s two best men, provided some impromptu improvisation while the band played behind him. The party was just fantastic!

Debbie & Mike: Our heartfelt thanks for letting us spend such a beautiful and thrilling day with you. It was every bit the incredible day we knew it would be. And the gourmet dinner was truly appreciated. We felt not only like guests, but like family.

When they get back to the mainland, their entire gallery will be found in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. Please leave a message for Debbie & Mike, or for us, by clicking the “Comments” link at the top of this blog entry!

Nothing was going to prevent Jessica & Barry’s wedding from being a picture-perfect day. In several ways, they threw away traditions so they could have exactly the sort of day they’d planned for so long. When it threatened to rain early in the day she was still determined to enjoy an outdoor wedding. Her pure excitement and will seemed to keep the raindrops at bay. We were so glad to join them for some private time together and photos before the ceremony! Jessica was nothing less than stunning in her exquisitely detailed designer gown. Their guests enjoyed the unique site of seeing Barry walk his bride down the aisle, a truly touching moment.

  • Ulysses - Hi there, Alison! First of all, it was so great to be able to meet the entire family and get to know everyone better. We had a fantastic time!

Their gallery is NOW available, so I know you’ll have a good time viewing their photos. They were phenomenal together during their private session. And we really loved seeing the great range of emotion that was evident throughout the entire day: Anticipation, romance, tears of joy during the parent dances, friends & family who were completely overjoyed for them both. It was a beautiful day.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the photos as much as we did when taking them!September 29, 2008 – 12:05 PM

  • Alison Marcinkowski - What an amazing job they did with the photos. I can’t wait to see the rest.

Westchester Magazine’s “Unveiled” bridal event for 2008 was a big hit for both brides and wedding vendors in the area as they met for an afternoon of fashion, fun, food, and festivity. Brides flooded into the doors of the CV Rich Mansion to sample cakes and food items, critique bridal gowns, sign up for gift registries, and to peruse through our photo albums, while stunning models lit up the runway to show off the latest in gowns for brides, bridesmaids, and mothers. The energy in the air was palpable. We met a number of excited brides and parents, whom we hope to hear from again very soon.

We were happy to visit with so many prestigious professionals, several of whom are personal friends as well as appreciated peers and colleagues:

Since we were busy photographing the event for Westchester Magazine, one of our most awesome couples, Annie & Jason (you’ll certainly recognize them from our AnnieCam posts) took care of our display table for us, lending their winning and extremely friendly personalities to the effort to tell brides about Ulysses Photography. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect surrugates to talk excitedly about what we do. THANK YOU, Annie & Jason!!! 🙂

You’ll be able to visit westchestermagazine.com to see many more photos, and our own gallery will follow shortly afterward. For now, here are a few scenes from a fantastic day at the “Unveiled” event.

This entry has double importance to us. With his parents’ permission, we’re sharing with you one of the most amazing events we’ve ever had the joy of photographing: The birth of our little friend, Nicholas. Jennifer worked so hard during her labor to bring him into the world, and Chris was right there beside her in complete wonderment.

Additionally, the following slideshow contains what are among the last photos of Nicholas’ uncle, Ralph, who had been fighting a terminal illness for a long time. He was a wonderful friend of ours. Ralph was there on the night of Nicholas birth, and he was able to hold him and welcome him. Last night, only a few short weeks after Nicholas’ birth, Ralph passed away, making these photos that much more poignant. We’ll miss him.

We hope you’re as moved as we were by this series of images. Just click the “PLAY” button in the box below:

Hugs and congratulations to Jen, Chris, and Nicholas’ big brother, Adam. 🙂

  • Michael Shandro - This brings me back a few weeks to the birth of our own son. Your pictures are wonderful Ulysses. The parents will always be thankful that they have such a good record of the birth of their son. Think about how amazing it will be for Nicholas to be able to look at these himself one day!September 13, 2008 – 7:16 AM

What a complete joy it is to photograph a wedding where we run into some of our former brides & grooms again, truly some of our favorite couples! It was exactly this kind of reunion at Kimberly & Eric’s wedding.

There were big hugs for everyone when we saw Annie & Jason in attendance. They were looking just as happy and in-love as ever. Since we already know what a camera maniac Annie is, we just had to ask her to take a photo of us along with Kimberly & Eric. She was happy to oblige, and it’s no surprise that the results came out perfectly!

For “old times sake”, we made sure to take a romantic photo of Annie & Jay. We couldn’t have been happier to see them.

Read more on our AnnieCam adventures…

  • Annie - I must say that I am getting better and better at this camera stuff!!! You two better look out!!! I might have to start booking my own clients!! Ha!!! 🙂

Jenni- that picture you captured with me and your adorable hubby hysterical laughing is priceless! Too much fun!!! Well, some might call it trouble!!

In all seriousness… Jason and I need to get more of our friends married so we can continue this AnnieCam. It can’t end in the sequel!! 🙂September 9, 2008 – 8:21 PM

Rosanna & Kevin were the most PUMPED couple ever when their wedding day arrived! Throughout the entire day we couldn’t stop laughing with them. The invitation to their “premiere event” seen at the left says it all. Everything about their wedding & reception day was larger than life – so many guests, so much food, and so much fun. It was also an incredible mix of rich Italian and Irish culture, making for pure joy for everyone there.

Rosanna & Kevin, we can’t begin to thank you enough for the opportunity we’ve had to photograph with you. It has been simply awesome since day #1. And thank you so much for seating us as your guests in the main dining room and for the amazing multi-course meal! Jenni and I truly felt like a part of the family.
