New York Wedding Photographer – Ulysses Photography Blog » artistic. unobtrusive. fashionable. fun.

Rosanna & Kevin simply made this day happen despite a couple of kinks in their plans. We were truly excited to see this warm and super-friendly couple again. They’re both so enthused and excited about our photography. Kevin has this cool and laid-back demeanor, and Rosanna is a very talented artist full of effervescence! The combination made for a fantastic session.

Rosanna and Kevin had seen samples from some of our past bridals and “morning after” sessions, where the bride and groom get to completely express themselves despite an often unlikely environment or shooting situation, for stunning results. They wanted something like that for their e-session. We know they’re going to be thrilled with the results and can’t wait to show them the complete gallery. If this session was any indication at all, we’re going to have a blast with them on their wedding day. CAN’T WAIT! 😀

Very soon you’ll be able to see their gallery in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. Here’s a small sample of what you’ll get to enjoy.

We always love hearing what you think of the photos, so leave a comment on the blog by clicking on the “Comments” icon immediately below. 🙂

More with Rosanna + Kevin.

  • Ulysses - Jessica!!! Hi there! 🙂

I’ll be back on in an hour to see if Ulysses is done yet. LOL!!!!September 3, 2007 – 10:25 AM

We love getting feedback on the photos! Julie & Swaroop had a beautiful wedding day, and then the reception at the fabulous Lyndhurst Castle. As a photographer herself, Julie has an eye for naturally rich emotion and detail, so this one was special for us. After seeing their wedding photos, Julie sent the following note:

Jenni & Ulysses,

Words can not describe your photography….
I knew I loved your work from day one, but to see your work on our day… my breath was taken away!

And now I have to pick! Oi!

I would love your input! For it is your eye, your compassion, your creativity that has created these wonderful memories.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Have a great weekend. Thank you again! 🙂

Best,

Julie

Julie & Swaroop, you were both amazing to shoot. We had a complete blast with you and your families! Thank you so much for choosing us.

Last week two close friends of ours, Jessica and Nate, were visiting NYC. They are not only incredible photographers, but also people we just really love. We were so excited to spend the day with them. Although we’d initially planned to go to the Museum of Modern Art for inspiration, the lines to get in were rather daunting, so we decided to change plans. Our first stop was the Apple Store on 5th Ave, which Ulysses had been very eager to visit. Jess and I did some shopping, and we enjoyed our very first Jamba Juice smoothies (big YUM).

iPhone amazement

Of course, when you’re in Manhattan, you have to keep your eye open for celebrities, and Ulysses is incredible at recognizing and remembering faces. As we were walking, he suddenly stopped and said “Anita Baker!” When we turned around, there she was, speaking with another woman. Ulysses immediately walked over and waited until this famous singer was done, and then walked introduced himself and walked with her for a while. I grabbed a few shots before heading over to meet her, as well. Ulysses was so excited to tell her that we danced our first dance to one of her songs – Giving You the Best That I Got – at our wedding almost 18 years ago. She was very sweet, and we really enjoyed meeting her. Only in New York, right? 🙂

Walking with Anita Baker

The celebrities we enjoyed the most, however, were Jess and Nate. They are as much fun in front of the camera as they are behind it. 🙂 They asked us to take some photos of them for their new website, so we stopped at a few funky locations that had interesting light and had a blast with them.

Ulysses: Before we began walking the streets of NY with Jess and Nate, Jenni served as on-the-scene makeup artist, helping Jess prepare for her New York debut. The ladies looked ABSOLUTELY KILLER, I might add. 😉

Makeup! Where’s my makeup?!??

Here are just a few of our faves from the day. Sometimes the mood was quiet; other times it was much more energetic (go Jess go!!) 😀

A bit of romance after exploring Central Park was nice, too.

Jess & Nate treated us to an incredible dinner at a Nouvelle Mexican restaurant (really big YUM). After dinner — no surprise — we were still shooting and laughing our heads off.

It was so refreshing to recharge our batteries in the middle of our busy photography season. Being with great friends who inspire us and share our passion for photography was a true highlight of the summer for us.

  • Ulysses - LOL!!! Oh my goodness! Well, now… it’s REALLY great to meet you, Kathleen. 😀

Of course, we’d love to have Jess and Nate visit again. But I think we’ve also got to find a way to visit you guys out there in Michigan sometime. I’ve never been there before.

Honestly, anywhere that good friends land together makes for a great time. So we’re looking forward to the next opportunity. 🙂

    Thanks for the note!September 4, 2007 – 4:41 PM

  • Jessica - FYI-kathleen is my mom! 🙂September 3, 2007 – 2:34 PM

  • Kathleen - How wonderful for both couples to be able to have so much fun together and enjoy each others company. Close friends surely are a blessing and it is evident you share something special. I am looking forward to the pics from the the next time you spend time together…fun, encouragment, and just living life…it is sweet!September 3, 2007 – 1:37 PM

  • Nichole - Anita Baker?! Mom said that you’ve always been bold. And I was instructed to say that that’s one of her favorite singers. 🙂

Glad you two had such a good time.

    NicholeSeptember 2, 2007 – 2:45 PM

  • Laura - I love these. What fun seemingly was had!August 31, 2007 – 11:13 PM

  • Nate - Hey…I’ve got to comment too! You guys were the best. Not only did we have fun goofing around at Apple, but we truly felt what friendship is all about. It would not have been the same without you there.

The photos rock…especially Jess flying through the air behind me. Way too funny. We hope that we can show you as good a time if you ever come to Ann Arbor. Ok…back to work now

    love,
    NateAugust 30, 2007 – 7:15 PM

  • Ulysses - Jess & Nate, have a couple of big hugs from us here in NY! Hope you’ve eased back into the remaining summer shooting season without too much trouble after vacation. 🙂

Don’t even worry about those photos. Hopefully one or two of them will work out for your website! If so, let us know! We’d love to see your favorites from the day. 🙂

    Talk to you soon!

    Much love from me & Jenni.August 30, 2007 – 5:52 PM

  • Jessica - yipeeee so fun!

you made our trip! we still talk about how much fun that was-thank you for taking a day off during the middle of crazy season to spend it with us.

    love,
    jess nate

Quality - Edwina & RyanI remember years ago shopping in a mens clothing store. A gray-haired gentleman was helping his son buy his first suit. I overheard the young man say to his dad, “What about this one? It’s pretty inexpensive.” The dad looked at the price tag, and then he put his hand on his son’s shoulder and said, “I’ve always told you, buy QUALITY, and buy SERVICE. They won’t let you down later on.”

I’ve recalled this sage advice many times. This recommendation is especially true for couples considering their photography needs. We are so happy to have had the most amazing couples entrust us with the photographing their wedding. The quality of our photography, the fine products showcasing your images, and our customer service are second to none and are intended to give you a total experience that you will value for a lifetime.

Our reputation is everything to us. We therefore feel privileged and thrilled to have our brides rave with their comments about us both on this blog, as well as in the “Raves” section of our main website. We have an excellent reputation with a broad selection of vendors and venues who feel the same way we do about boutique-style service. While our photography has won awards and has been published in magazines, those accolades are nothing in comparison to the joyful responses we receive from our couples, their family and closest friends. You are our most important cheerleaders. For that we want to THANK YOU.

Quality - Annie & Jason

Jennifer & Greg had a perfect day! It was sunny and beautiful, and all their friends and family were excited to see them get married. It was amazing to see the way Jen and Greg looked at each other during their first look at one another — they obviously enjoy every minute together.

Jen and Greg told us from the beginning that they were seriously looking forward to the food, and I know for a certainty that no one left this wedding hungry (including us!). I don’t think I’ve seen that much food in a long time – it was incredible! Jen and Greg, thank you so much for the feast and the fun! 🙂

Their complete online gallery will be available upon their return from their honeymoon. You will find it in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. But for now, enjoy this preview of images from their beautiful day. Just press the PLAY button to begin the show.

We’d love to hear your own comments about their day and about the pictures, so leave a comment by clicking on the “Comments” link immediately below. 🙂

  • Ulysses - Hi thee, Sue! I enjoy going back through some of our wedding blogs. And upon coming back to Jen & Greg, I realized that I hadn’t responded to you. So sorry!

Yes, Jen’s flowers were beautiful. We wanted to make sure to look for and capture details like this since they added so much to the “personality” and style of the day. One thing I’ve come to appreciate about Jen is how well she knows what she wants. Her choices with the flower colors were just beautiful, as was Jen herself.

It was wonderful seeing you again for another recent wedding, and we hope to see you soon. 🙂October 12, 2007 – 12:50 AM

  • Floral Cottage - I am really impressed by the preview of Jen and Greg’s wedding photos. Jennifer is a beautiful Bride…and beautiful person. It was a pleasure working with Jen & her Mom on their flowers. They have a wonderful family and we wish them all the best. Thank you for including us on your blog and taking breathtaking photos of our flowers. Thanks again, SueAugust 29, 2007 – 1:46 PM

We met Lena & Justin in person for the first time today. What a cute couple! 🙂

They were visiting from their home in Minnesota and came all the way out to finalize some wedding details and to spend some time with us for an early-morning engagement session. What a blast we had! The park we’d chosen was relatively empty and was very quiet — quiet except for us, that is. We had a perfect opportunity to simply get to know them better. 😀

Lena wore a lovely dress she’d bought especially for this photo session. The two of them were naturals in front of the camera and hardly needed much help from us. The moments we captured were just delightful, and we can’t wait to show them the results. They were so easy and enjoyable to be around, that we know their wedding at Round Hill House is going to be a fun autumn affair! 🙂

Their complete engagement gallery is coming very soon to the “Client Proofs” section of our main website, so keep your browsers ready!

Rachel & Ross. Ross & Rachel. Wow!!! We read their names when they first contacted us by email, and we knew we had to shoot this wedding! 😀

It was a beautiful day at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, and Rachel and Ross chose to see one another before their ceremony. As her family and closest friends looked on from a distance, it was such a privilege to photograph them during this intimate moment. They love pictures so much that we got to walk around the pier for an hour to capture some fun and fashionable photos of the two of them. This time together was so appreciated and important! 🙂

The rapidly waning light of their sunset ceremony lent a very intimate feel to the proceedings even though there were hundreds in attendance. You could tell that they could hardly believe it as they were pronounced as husband and wife. The cheering for them was incredible, as was the reception party to follow.

Rachel & Ross, we were truly moved by your beautiful day, and inspired by the deep love that your parents have for each of you. Rachel, we were particularly touched by the poem read by your grandmother. It was such a special day, and we sincerely thank you for choosing us and showing such confidence in us to take care of you on your wedding day. Thank you, too, for the amazing chilean sea bass dinner! Double yum! 🙂

UPDATE 8/23/07: The complete gallery is now available in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. But here is a brief teaser of some of the pictures to come. Just click the PLAY button to begin the show.

Make sure to share this blog with everyone! We want to hear from you after seeing some of the photos. Or leave a message for Rachel & Ross by clicking on the “Comments” link immediately below. Enjoy! 🙂

  • Ulysses - Hi there, Gulnara! Wow! How exciting to hear that you were there, too! I’m guessing your wedding was next door at Pier 60? We really enjoy the Lighthouse venue. Picking this place was really special for this couple. So we simply used the area around it for their first meeting together before the ceremony, and then we had some fun walking around the pier. It was a fantastic day, and it’s no wonder Jenni and I were so pumped about it!

I’m sorry that I missed speaking with you. Jenni told me later on that someone from the DWF spoke briefly with her, but she couldn’t remember your name. The funny part is that I thought I heard someone call my name, but I didn’t have time to figure out who it was. It must have been you! So thanks for writing! 🙂August 25, 2007 – 3:02 AM

  • Gulnara - Hi guys,

I was shooting a wedding at the pier when I saw you there shooting as well. You were soo in to it! Good stuff!!August 24, 2007 – 8:03 PM

  • Ulysses - Mrs. Gotler, we are so excited that the very first comment on this blog entry comes from you. We had such a good time at the wedding. You can probably tell how much we enjoy what we do simply by watching the smiles on our faces while we take everything in and capture it for the enjoyment of not only the couple but also their families.

The slideshow above is just a little taste of all the emotive and exciting moments that took place. We’re hard at work preparing the photos for everyone’s enjoyment, and they should be ready for viewing soon. I think you’re going to really enjoy them. 🙂

Our best to you and Mr. Gotler. Warm regards.August 22, 2007 – 6:07 PM

Carol & Rick: IntimateAnyone seeing their natural affection on display can tell that Carol & Rick are simply made for one another. We met up with them a few hours before the wedding for their private photo shoot. We love doing these because the couple can be undistracted by any other thoughts and concentrate completely upon one another. And let me tell you, the ONLY thing Carol was thinking about was Rick! 😀

As she slowly walked up behind him so that he could see her in her fabulous designer gown for the first time, the excitement in the air was like electricity. I think we all had tears of joy in our eyes as they greeted, kissed and hugged. Just beautiful. Their wedding ceremony at the Eagle’s Nest was just as packed with emotion. We laughed when as the officiant neared the point of pronouncing them as man and wife, Carol turned to friends and family and said, “Everybody get ready to scream!” 😀

The complete gallery will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. Please, leave a comment about your favorite photos by clicking on the “Comments” link below this entry. We love hearing from you! 🙂

Carol & Rick: Excitement!

  • Ulysses - Oh, Carol! Thank you so much for the comments and for having some fun on our blog with us. You were simply adorable to see on the day of your wedding, especially during your private photo shoot. We could not have been happier for the two of you. Just an amazing day! We’re so happy with the way the photos turned out, and we’re overjoyed that you feel the same. 🙂

    Talk to you soon.September 7, 2007 – 9:39 AM

  • carol (the bride) - Smiling was a natural response in the company of my groom at our private photo session before our wedding 🙂 and…Focusing on Jenni and Ulysses “smiles” back at me allowed me to forget there was a camera in close site. They captured our day in a way no one else did that day. The artistry of their work is amazing and we were lucky to have them be part of our day!

    Warmly, Carol BordesSeptember 6, 2007 – 1:00 PM

AutumnAs many of you have noticed, we’ve been extremely busy lately. In fact, it’s just going to get busier as we head into our autumn season. We’ll have lots of exciting weddings, morning-after sessions, portrait sessions, and even a honeymoon to show you soon on the blog! 🙂

Since we feel that excellent service is just as important as incredible photographs, we will be closing out the months of September and October to any additional portrait sessions except for maternity and newborn (since they are obviously time-sensitive).

We are currently booking portrait sessions for the months of November and December, so if you are thinking of planning a session, please call us now to reserve a date.

Thank you all! We’re looking forward to an amazing autumn.

Caroline & Jason drove a ways out to shoot with us, and they brought along some incredibly cute friends: Sugar and Ziggy, their pet poodle mixes. After having a nice walk in a nearby park, Sugar and Ziggy were just as ready as everyone else for some photos and playtime! 🙂

As Caroline & Jason both have their hands full with work, they were looking forward to this little date-like session, when they could just sit and relax and enjoy each other’s closeness. We had a great time getting to know each of them better, as well. We’re looking forward not only to their wedding, but also spending another fun time with them on the MORNING AFTER the wedding. They’ve got some special plans for that day, so stay tuned to the blog for their wedding at Round Hill House this October! We’ll tell you all about it and have plenty of pictures to show you. We can’t wait. 🙂

Their online gallery is coming soon to our main website in the “Client Proofs” area, but I wanted to surprise Caroline & Jason with this slideshow preview of their engagement session photos so they can see just how fantastic they did together. Just click the PLAY button (Play button) to start the show.

  • Jessica - LOVE #8! so cute!August 13, 2007 – 3:20 PM

It might come as no surprise that brides sometimes check our website (and this blog) well before even choosing their wedding venue. Although we’ll probably never get to see every single location in the northeast, we’ve had a chance to visit some spectacular venues and to show them off beautifully in photographs.

Sometimes couples want to make sure that their venue will easily lend itself to pictures. Other times the bride might be looking for decor ideas. Still others simply enjoy looking at pretty pictures as they anticipate their own wedding day. 🙂

Whatever the reason, feel free to browse main website, specifically our Boutique. You’ll see not only a listing of some of our most recent weddings (listed by the bride & groom’s names), but you’ll also see a long list of “Featured Weddings” listed by venue and location. Each gallery highlights the beauty of the venue, and sometimes even pictures of the tasty dishes served there.

Another way to get a similar listing is to go to our blog’s Wedding Venues page. Sometimes you’ll see multiple galleries for the same venue showing it at a different time of year so you can get a good idea of what to expect for your own wedding there. We love working at beautiful and interesting locations, whether it is the Belvedere Mansion, Castle on the Hudson, Chateau Hathorn, Hall of Springs, Mohonk Mountain House, Ocean Place Resort, Onteora, Skylands Manor, on a yacht, or on a horse farm.

But more important than the intrinsic beauty of the place is how we’ll make use of it on YOUR wedding day, and how we work together to ensure that you enjoy the experience of great photography. We’re not necessarily traditional or conventional, but we think you’ll love how you look in your photos. So browse around our website! And if you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us for more information. 🙂

Our weekend was packed with beautiful weddings. Kristie & Joel’s wedding was particularly special because it was as if we were seeing our own brother and sister get married. 🙂

The day was incredibly emotional for everyone, with tears of happiness being shed when Kristie’s dad saw her for the first time in her beautiful gown, as Kristie and Joel spoke their vows to one another, as everyone hugged right after the ceremony, and during their first dance together. One moment flowed into the next, making the day pass all too quickly. We were thrilled to be able to spend some private time with the two of them for a photo session, and the results were just fantastic (no surprise at all after our previous engagement session with this fun couple).

Kristie & Joel, we want to thank you from our hearts for trusting us with such an important part of your day. You are two beautiful people, and we’ve had so much fun together. We truly hope we get to see you and your families again soon. Thank you so much for the fantastic Chilean sea bass – yum! We truly enjoyed ourselves.

We’re sure you’ll want to see a little preview of what is to come in their online gallery. Here is a brief slideshow for your enjoyment. To begin, press the PLAY button (Play button).

Their complete gallery will be posted when they return from their honeymoon. Keep your browser pointed to the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. And we encourage you to leave a comment for Kristie & Joel by clicking the “Comments” link immediately below. We always enjoy hearing the feedback, and we know they will, too. 🙂

They are lovely photos-you can really see the connection between them. 🙂August 10, 2007 – 11:19 AM

  • Ulysses - Jess, we can’t wait to see you and Nathan when you guys visit NY! I’ve got a special place I want to take you. 🙂

Thanks for the comments and kudos, too! I think what I enjoyed most about this wedding day was not only the couple themselves, but also just how much emotion was present during the entire day — from start to finish. So much passion, so much joy, so much love. This private photo session with Kristie & Joel only hints at some of the other more family-oriented moments that occurred. So we can’t wait to release the whole gallery when these guys get back from the honeymoon.August 9, 2007 – 10:52 PM

  • Jessica - LOVELY! That one of them in infared with your angle shooting down is fabo!!

Julie & Swaroop’s wedding day had finally arrived! We were very excited about this wedding, as Julie is a photographer herself. They were actually the second couple of ours who had a venue change forced upon them (the same happened for Sarah & Greg’s wedding). But their day at the beautiful Lyndhurst Castle actually turned out even better in the end than their initial plans. Julie was a beautiful vision to behold in her gorgeous designer gown. And we have rarely met such a classy and down-to-earth groom as Swaroop. As is our custom, we took advantage of the naturally warm quality of light throughout the day for lovely results. There was a true blending of eastern and western cultures as their family and friends celebrated by dancing with them throughout the evening. Their exit was made more memorable with a bubble-filled send-off by their guests. It was such a spectacular day.

Julie & Swaroop, thank you SO much for making us a part of your day and for the incredible Indian meal. We loved it! It was a privilege to share in the joy of your wedding. We’ve got so much to show you! 😉

Their complete online wedding gallery will be available tomorrow! Be sure to check the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. And please… we’d love to hear your responses about some of your favorite pictures or your time there at the wedding. You can leave a comment by clicking on the “Comments” icon immediately below this blog entry.

Edwina & Ryan’s weddingWhat an awesome time we had with Edwina and Ryan! The day was filled with excitement, laughter, rich emotion, and breathtaking beauty. The entire wedding party was gathered at Ryan’s house, with the guys upstairs joking with Ryan, and the girls downstairs having fun and helping Edwina get ready. Her gown was sensational and was just perfect for her. Ryan was blown away by how amazing she looked when he had a chance to see Edwina for a private first look, followed by a playful private photo shoot. Spending time like this was one of the most enjoyable and beautiful parts of the day. (Click the image to see a larger version.)

The ceremony was short and sweet, but still contained so much emotion, especially during the reading by Ryan’s sister. Their families and wedding party were a blast to spend time with, and we hope to have several of them as friends for a long time to come. One table of their friends even SANG to us during the reception. You’ve got to love that! 😀

Eddie & Ryan, thank you SO much for the opportunity to spend the day with you. Your laughter and genuineness truly made the day for us. We can’t wait to show you the results in the photos! Thanks, also, for the fabulous meal. 🙂

We’re working to prepare their online gallery, which will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. It will definitely be worth the short wait! Until then, enjoy the slideshow preview below by clicking on the PLAY button (Play button).

We love hearing from you, so leave us comment to let us know what you think of the photos and what you enjoyed about their lovely day! 🙂

We found Melissa in the bridal suite, while she was getting her hair and makeup done. This is always one of our favorite parts of the day because we get to see all the real interactions between family members as they enjoy the rush of preparation. It’s also one of the most beautiful times of the day for the fun and emotion that passes before our eyes. Melissa was a blast to photograph, along with her sisters and closest friends. We helped manage the time so she even had a chance for some gorgeous bridal photos and then to relax before the ceremony.

Bill and his brothers were every bit as excited, talkative, and jovial as we would have expected. The ceremony was very relaxed and laid back, with the emphasis on everyone simply being comfortable and enjoying the day with Melissa & Bill. They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, and we’re so thankful they asked us to be their photographers (… and a huge thanks, Melissa & Bill, for your hospitality and the fine meal. We truly enjoyed our time with your families, as well). 🙂

Their online gallery will be available very soon so everyone can enjoy the photos, including their brief interlude through the gardens of Round Hill House. The pictures will soon be posted to the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. And please feel free to leave a comment for the happy couple or for us by clicking on the “Comment” icon immediately below! We love receiving the feedback. 🙂

Melissa & Bill’s Wedding

(Click the above image for a larger version.)

Heather & Tom are the most delightful couple you could meet. They enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and traveling. So when they asked us to come out to her parents’ home on the beautiful Masten Lake, we knew it would be perfect as the site for their engagement session. It was still raining when we arrived, but that didn’t dampen the spirits or the enthusiasm of anyone as we started the photo session. Just allowing them to be themselves made for pictures that were completely romantic, entirely humorous, definitely mischievous, and always beautiful all at the same time. We couldn’t have asked for a better day with them and with her very hospitable parents.

We’re eagerly anticipating their November wedding at the Eagle’s Nest.

  • Heather & Tom’s Album Arrives! at Ulysses Photography Blog - […] Heather & Tom’s Engagement […]June 11, 2008 – 11:51 PM

  • Heather & Tom - We absolutley LOVE the photos!!

Thank you for all the nice words about us as well! We had a GREAT time. You made us both feel so comfortable that it made it an easy evening for us (even though we are not used to having our picture taken!)

We can’t wait to work with you again! Four months and counting!!!

    ~~Heather

PS. The name of the lake that my parents live on is Masten Lake.July 19, 2007 – 10:54 PM

  • Ulysses - Heather, let me mention something really cool to you guys! We were recently contacted by the mother of a bride (she’s considering us for her daughter’s wedding). In conversation with her, she mentioned that she saw a couple in a boat on our website. She talked about how comfortable, how in love, and how relaxed they looked, and just how beautiful the picture was.

Since we take so many pictures, we ordinarily have to wrack our brains trying to figure out the specific picture being talked about. But in this case, we KNEW it was you and Tom! 🙂

Weather never really matters. It’s always about how the couple are able to free their minds and simply express themselves in a way that’s natural for them. The result is a beautiful session like yours! As the above comments show, we’re clearly not the only ones enjoying your photos! 😀

By the way, if you know the name of that lake, could you forward it to me sometime? Thanks!!!July 19, 2007 – 4:45 PM

  • Heather & Tom - Ulysses and Jenni,

As I was taking a study break I decided to look at all of our pictures from last Wednesday, and I can honestly say that the both of you are unbelievable at what you do. Heather and I are so grateful that we have the both of you documenting some of the most important days of our lives. We couldn’t be any happier with how the photos came out, and we just wanted to say thank you once again.

    ~TomJuly 16, 2007 – 11:07 PM

  • Ulysses - Heather, we had THE most fun with you guys during this session. Sometimes with many couples, they might find it difficult to let their excitement and true selves shine through. But let me tell you, this was NOT a problem for either of you. This all bodes well for your wedding day!

And thanks so much for the kind words. These mean a lot to us. We think you can tell just how much of ourselves we put into all of this. By knowing us better, you’ll definitely feel even more comfortable on your wedding day, full of confidence in just how beautiful you are and how amazing your wedding day is going to be.

You guys look FANTASTIC in these photos. Loved the way you kept changing your position to give us something new in each frame. Can’t wait to show you soon! 😀July 13, 2007 – 10:27 AM

  • Heather & Tom - We had the greatest time at our engagement session! You put both Tom and I completely at ease. Thank you for putting up with the weather, our love for the outdoors, and our antics! The photo is absolutely AMAZING!!! We can’t wait to see them all! We are so looking forward to working with you on our wedding day. The beauty of your work and level of professionalism are second to none. Thank you again!!!

Both Kerry and Joe are such easygoing people, that we really looked forward to seeing how their wedding day would unfold. Just as we expected, no matter how much chaos there was surrounding them, they both stayed cool and calm and just enjoyed their day. Their kind personalities and love for each other really comes through in the photos. We truly enjoyed being able to photograph them while taking advantage of the beautiful views and the setting sun at The Eagle’s Nest in Bloomingburg, NY.

Kerry and Joe, thank you for taking such good care of us! We hope you’re having a wonderful time relaxing in St. Lucia!

The entire proof gallery will be released very shortly on our main site under Client Proofs. Until then, please enjoy this preview photo. And feel free to leave a comment for Kerry & Joe, or for their photographers, by clicking on the “Comments” link below!

More with Kerry + Joe.

  • Ulysses - For those of you who are reading this blog, Jessica is one of our dearest friends. She’s an INCREDIBLE photographer from the Detroit, Michigan area. We love her work, and find ourselves frequently inspired by her talent, her sparkling personality, and her images.

It’s friends and colleagues like these who fill Jenni and myself with the desire to always try something new, visit a spot that we haven’t seen before, and just do our best for you no matter what the conditions or circumstances. Surrounding ourselves with friends like Jessica is good for us as people and as photographers. 🙂

And for our brides, we can definitely say that surrounding yourselves with warm and friendly professionals is definitely going to make your day more beautiful and more enjoyable, too.July 12, 2007 – 10:08 PM

  • Jessica - So true! I go crazy when I see good light-I start jumping up and down-and the best clients are those who respond and run to where I point and get into position.

Anyway, love that image! Can’t wait to see you guys soon!

  • Lu-Ann and Joe - Dear Kerry and Joe;

We both had a great time at your wedding. The wedding was great. Kerry you looked gorgeous, and Joe you handsome. We wish you both much love and happines always. Hope to see you soon.

    Love,

    Lu-Ann and JoeJuly 12, 2007 – 8:30 PM

  • Ulysses - Jessica, thanks so much for the comments! It means a lot to us when others enjoy the work.

We were rushing to use what little sunlight we had left, and I honestly didn’t think it would work out for an attempt at infrared. We could literally see the shadows creeping longer and farther as the sun started to set. But then all of a sudden, I looked and saw the combination of hot areas and dark areas, and asked Kerry & Joe to “hurry, I need you guys right HERE!” LOL!

We obtained some beautifully moody light, rather different than what I’ll often try out for infrared. I’m really happy with the results.

It’s good to take risks and to just have a bit of fun with the circumstances, whatever they are! Often the most cherished results come out of those few minutes, as I’m sure you and Nathan already know!July 12, 2007 – 6:51 PM

  • Susie and Jim - We had an excellent time, Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your special day!!! We hope you find peace and joy in your lives together, for a very long time 🙂July 10, 2007 – 8:20 PM

We are so privileged to have such a wonderful relationship with Annie & Jason. It made the entire day go so smoothly for their photography. Having had an awesome engagement session months ago and knowing they were thrilled by those results, we had little doubt that the beautiful gardens at Round Hill House would be perfectly suited for them. This is perhaps the greenest and lushest we’ve ever experienced the gardens there, so we took full advantage of it during a quiet photo session with them after the formals were done. We loved seeing the quiet intensity in their eyes, along with their radiant smiles, through the camera lens. Their deep love for one another was easily captured as they relaxed into the post-ceremony private session, which gave us a chance to play a bit and bring out the best in their day’s photos.

We’re happy to show you a brief preview of their photos. Just click the “PLAY” button to begin the show.

Their full gallery will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. So keep your browsers bookmarked there. You will not be disappointed at reliving their gorgeous day with them.

Annie & Jason, we are so happy for you. A warm “thank-you” for choosing us, and for taking such good care of us on your wedding day. The best is yet to come! We’ll talk again soon. 🙂

  • Ulysses - Jill, you have absolutely MADE our day! I think it’s just awesome when our brides (past, present and FUTURE) visit the blog to see what we’re up to. Knowing that you’re loving what you’re seeing makes us look forward even more so to your own wedding. We’re filling our heads with ideas and inspiration, so we know we’re all going to have an incredible time.

And a special “thanks” for your comments on the infrared photos! As you already know, these are a specialty of mine, and I love experimenting with this technique. As you can see with Annie and Jason’s photos, our approach to these is somewhat different than is often found elsewhere, so we really enjoy it. We’ll definitely look to employ some infrared techniques during our days with you guys. Yay!! 🙂July 10, 2007 – 11:24 PM

  • Jill - I must admit, I’m addicted to your website!! I love seeing the amazing work you guys do and get excited that I have you for our wedding. The above shots are gorgeous and we look forward to making our own soon!! (I particularly like the infrared nature ones-hopefully we’ll get some cool ones of those too!!) Keep up the amazing work and we can’t wait to see you soon!!

  • Ulysses - Annie, I’m really glad we were able to give you something to enjoy on the day before your honeymoon. We aren’t usually able to get the gallery ready quite so soon, but we knew it would be a nice surprise for you two and for the family. It’s so good to know that you’re enjoying them! I’m just sitting here imagining that gorgeous smile of delight!

Elissa, you were so welcoming and memorable to us. It was especially notable to see how attentive to Annie you were. Such a good friend. We tried to make ourselves invisible part of the time, and to simply enjoy ourselves with you guys most of the time.

Lisa, thank so much for the kind words. We really do put our heart and soul into our work. It’s made even easier when the couple is so easy-going and fun-loving as Annie & Jason. Enjoy the gallery! 🙂July 5, 2007 – 10:09 AM

  • Lisa - Annie & Jason,
Your photos are as beautiful as the two of you! I am so happy that I could share your special day with you and watch as you start your life together! You are a stunning couple =) XOXOXO I love you guys =)

Photographers – you guys did an awesome job capturing how much these two love and belong together – you now know why the rest of us love them so much! You captured some of the most amazing moments of that night!July 4, 2007 – 8:58 PM

  • Elissa - Annie/Jason – What a perfect day! You both looked so amazing and did such a spectacular job with all of the planning. You should be so proud of yourselves!

The entire process has been so special and touching to me and I was sure nothing could match the memories of all of it in my mind. Yet Jenni and Ulysses, you guys have done such a phenomenal job at capturing so many of those pivotal moments. You are both so talented and yet so invisible!! Where you even there? 🙂

Annie/Jason, although you might not have enough space for the 2 of them in your suitcase, do you have enough space for 1? PLEASE!! Take me to Hawaii with you. I can be the acting photographer for you. Although, after looking through this album (twice), I have quite a job to live up to. ……maybe we should just forget that idea all together. 🙂 😉

    Have an awesome trip!

    xoxo

  • Ulysses - Annie, you’re just awesome! 🙂

Your grandmother gave me so many laughs from the very beginning of the day clear to the end. I’m glad to see she enjoyed herself so much. You’ll find plenty of photos of her in the gallery. She danced up a storm!

“Isn’t Jason HOT!!?!” — as if you have to ask?????? 😀

You guys are such gems. Let us know what you think once you’ve seen the entire gallery. Tell your friends about it, and they can feel free to leave comments about their favorites, too! We love hearing the feedback. 🙂

In case we don’t hear from you before you leave, have a WONDERFUL time in Hawaii! Wish we could be there!July 4, 2007 – 12:48 PM

  • Jenni - Hi Annie! Your grandmother is absolutely adorable! She had us laughing the whole day, too! I’m glad to hear she had fun. And your friends were TOO much fun! I really hope they call, as we love seeing “our” couples at other weddings. The day seriously flew by for us, and there were so many amazing moments to capture. I can’t wait for you to see them!!! Stand by… 🙂July 3, 2007 – 4:50 PM

  • Annie - I was on the phone with my grandmother last night and she kept talking about “those” photographers!! We spoke for almost 2 hours and she kept bringing you two up!! She thought you two were so friendly and funny~ I told her that we only picked the BEST!!

The entire day was just magical (even with those darn gnats!)and those sneak-preview pictures truly show how Jason and I both felt. Plus- isn’t Jason HOT!!?! We are so happy to have met you and to have been able to share our day with you!

Oh- and you aren’t kidding about our nutty friends! Gotta love ’em! When they do get hitched, your number will be on their speed dials!! Especially since I will want to hang out with you two again!!

Thanks again for everything!!! You two are awesome!!!!July 3, 2007 – 11:55 AM

  • Ulysses - Jason, thanks so much for that email you sent earlier. Having those few minutes together before the wedding was really fun for me. I loved the way you asked about how Annie was doing and wanting to know the story of how the morning went. 🙂

Jason, you are such a heartfelt guy. Annie truly could NOT have chosen better.

And your wedding party was full of nuts! They were a pleasure to shoot, as well. And with several of them we got to spend a little time getting to know them little better. If any of them ever need a photographer for a wedding or engagement, we’d talk to them in a heartbeat!

Annie was sheer elegance throughout the day. I love, love, LOVE her eyes. They say it all. 🙂

You’ve only seen the tip of what is to come. We’re working hard in an attempt to have the online gallery ready for viewing before you actually leave for your honeymoon. Stay tuned! 🙂

    Love you guys!July 3, 2007 – 9:26 AM

  • Jenni - Jason, you are all heart! It is so endearing to hear a groom so madly in love with his bride. 🙂 Never let go of that feeling. It was such an incredible privilege to be there to capture such a beautiful day. You and Annie are so special. Thank you for your complete confidence in us. We can’t wait for you to see the whole gallery!July 3, 2007 – 8:01 AM

  • Annie & Jason - Amazing, amazing, amazing! You two really are awesome. I must admit, I have watched the preview of our photos 3 times already. Sorry to all of your other customers, but Annie is the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life- and lucky me- she’s all mine!
I know I have seen just a preview- but thank you for capturing our day in a way only you two are capable of. These images are exactly the way I want to remember our wedding. Thank you Jenni and Ulysses…..
