New York Wedding Photographer – Ulysses Photography Blog » artistic. unobtrusive. fashionable. fun.

We first met Cory and Joe at a bridal fair at Round Hill. Months later, Cory called to say that she had fallen in love with our work, and although she had looked at other photographers, we were the ones that stood out in her mind. We were drawn to them, too. We’re so glad we had the opportunity to get to know Cory and Joe, and to spend their wedding day with them.

Cory and her girls were so much fun when we started at her parents’ house with her dressing. Then Cory and I rode in the limo together to go see Joe for the first time in a private location. We laughed during the entire ride. Ulysses and I had already found a rather unconventional location for their session, a place you might expect to be more suitable for the increasingly popular “trash the dress” type of sessions. It was perfectly stylish for Cory & Joe; they completely trusted us, and we are so glad they did! The results from this session are fantastic, and we can’t wait to show them the full gallery!

For now, here is a preview slideshow for all of you to enjoy while Cory and Joe are away in Hawaii on their honeymoon. Just click the “PLAY” button to start the show:

Once they return, their full proof gallery will be released on our main website under “Client Proofs.” If anyone would like to leave comments for the happy couple, or tell us what you think of their photos, we’d love to hear from you by clicking the “Comments” link immediately below.

  • Ulysses - Awwwww, you are just the best, Cory! (and Joe, too!) πŸ˜€

We felt so welcomed as soon as we walked into your parents’ house. And I have to tell you, we got the BIGGEST kick out of telling you where we were going for your private photo session (don’t tell anyone except your wedding party… it’ll be our little secret!). When we saw the pictures ourselves, we were so excited about making this call, and the fact that you TRUSTED us with it. You guys actually bowled us over with how well you did. And that wild scenery in the background was heart-stopping. We just love them, and so we knew you’d love them too.

And don’t worry about difficulty choosing. Jenni can be lots of help with that if you need anything at all.

Joe is so easy-going. And knowing that he simply wanted you to be happy made all the difference in your moods on that beautiful day. The biggest surprise was seeing how much he cut up on the dance floor!!! That was awesome! πŸ™‚

You’ve got such a great set of family and friends. We could easily tell how endeared you are to them. We couldn’t be happier for the two of you.

    Congrats!!!July 3, 2007 – 9:32 AM

  • Cory - Hey Guys,
Well all I can say is unbelievable. My breath has been taken away. You two were fantastic which I knew you would be. You made the best day of our lives even better than we had ever imagined. You are not photographers you are artists. I can’t believe how you captured every single detail. You don’t realize how much you had missed durng your Wedding Day until you see the pictures and you guys got it all. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our Wedding Day fabulous. Also I know our Wedding Party had a great time with you as well. Thank you for making them feel at ease and comfortable too.
    Love Always,
    CoryJuly 3, 2007 – 12:24 AM

  • Linda Ettinger Lieberman - My parents, Cyrus and Shirley Ettinger, are cousins of the bride’s father,
Lenny Glick. They flew up from Florida to attend the wedding and stayed with us for two weeks. I know that they were so happy to share this joyous occasion with Cory and the rest of her family. You do lovely work and I look forward to peering at the gallery to see if my parents are depicted in any of the shots.July 2, 2007 – 5:25 PM

  • Jenni - Hi Michelle and Tonya – of course we remember you! Thanks so much for writing! We had such a fun time with all of you. Love Always
    TonyaJune 26, 2007 – 12:22 PM

  • Michelle - Hi Guys! I’m Cory’s sister-in-law, remember me? Crazy maid of honor… Just this little preview has completely taken my breath away. I knew you guys were great but these are truly unbelievable!! And of course having such a beautiful woman and handsome man as subjects enhances your work that much more. We all had such a fun time with the both of you. Your professional yet easy going demeanor really put Cory at ease and helped to make the day such a pleasant and special experience. Thank you so much for capturing the mood and beauty of the entire event. Can’t wait to see the rest! Cory and Joe, love you both, you look AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL and so in love.
    Love, MichelleJune 24, 2007 – 7:22 PM

  • Ulysses - Yes! Nowwwww, I remember. πŸ˜€

And I’m sure we have a picture or two from that period of the evening. You’ll definitely have a chance to relive those moments of the two of you having a great time. It’s fantastic for us and for everyone to see individuals enjoying themselves so much. πŸ™‚June 20, 2007 – 12:18 PM

  • nellie - Hi Jenni and Ulysses, I’m sure we’ll have some awesome shots, I was the crazy person in the blue outfit and I have to remind you, that I saw the biggest grin on Ulysses’s face when I tried to get too close to the floor and back-up on my husband, it was the funniest, I really had a blast, guess I showed my roots!!! Hope to see you guys soon again, and all the best to Cory and Joe, just rememeber give it your ‘ALL”
    Allow each other
    Love each other
    Listen to each otherJune 20, 2007 – 11:54 AM

  • Ulysses - Thanks so much for the warm comments, Nellie! They made both Jenni and myself smile immediately. I think you got the perfect impression of us. We really do enjoy — no, we LOVE what we do. And it’s good to see that it shows so easily. πŸ™‚

You’ll have to remind us of what you were wearing, or what your hair looked like, or some little clue so that we can look for you again in the photos. If you were out there dancing, then I KNOW we’re certain to have caught you on the dance floor having an awesome time. We’ll have all the pictures available when the happy couple returns from the honeymoon, so stay tuned!! Just wait until you see Cory & Joe. They were The Celebrities on their wedding day. πŸ˜€June 20, 2007 – 11:33 AM

Luv you guys, ur the best!!!June 20, 2007 – 10:35 AM

Jackie & Chaz are the proud new owners of a log home. They live in a beautifully wooded area that is full of lush greenery. So they asked us to meet them there for their engagement session. Being full of fun and having a real passion for one another enabled them to easily adjust to our free-flowing shooting style for some really incredible moments. In fact, Jackie has done some modeling, and it made photographing her an absolute pleasure because of her comfort level in front of our cameras. We had a fun session full of laughter, silliness, and even live music! We can’t wait to see them again for their intimate wedding day. We know it’s going to be quite moving.

Their complete gallery will be up soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website, so keep your browsers pointed there.

Jenni and Madison (baby portrait session)It’s almost hard to believe, but Madison is finally here! She’s full of life and energy, and she brings her parents incredible joy. She was so good during the photo shoot, too. She didn’t fuss one bit — she had just taken a bath immediately prior to our arrival and was wide awake with her beautiful eyes on the camera. We kept shooting until she got hungry toward the end of the session. πŸ™‚

It’s been such a pleasure to follow Stephanie & Brian from the engagement session to their wedding, through their maternity period, and now the arrival of their excquisite daughter. What an amazing journey!

We know you can’t wait to see Madison! Contact Stephanie & Brian if you’d like the password for the gallery, which will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. For now, enjoy this brief slideshow to get a sneak peak! Just click the PLAY button below:

  • Jenni - Thank you so much, Stephanie! Madison is beyond adorable, and we enjoyed every moment of it! I still can’t get over how tiny she is. She is absolutely precious. Thank you for sharing such a special gift with us. And yes, if any baby is going to give us baby fever, it would definitely be Madison. πŸ™‚June 20, 2007 – 7:21 AM

  • Stephanie - Even though I feel this statement is beyond redundant at this point… we are so incredibly impressed with your work. We feel so lucky and honored to have you document all these amazing points in our life in such a heartfelt and personal way! We love you guys! ….and by the way, Jenni looks like a natural holding Madison…baby fever, anyone?June 17, 2007 – 5:54 PM

Our engagement session with Nicole & Matthew was one to remember for a number of reasons. First of all, they arrived completely ready for a session that would show off their affection and good looks, and at the same time they were casual enough to try anything we asked of them, including “lying down on the job.” They quickly realized that they could just relax into one another and enjoy the session without worrying about us or passersby. Together we produced some uniquely beautiful images. πŸ™‚

I’m smiling as I type all of this, because this entry was almost titled “Nicole and Matt – Behind Bars!” I’m just kidding, of course. But let me explain: Towards the end of our session, we were approached by two of the park’s uniformed employees and told that we would need to stop taking pictures there and move to a different location. We did so, and we were photographing in another out-of-the-way area (where we initially told to go by a ranger) when we were approached again a ranger and sternly told to leave! We later laughed about it. Can you imagine the four of us being put behind bars for simply enjoying a amazing day of photography? πŸ˜€

This little joke was the inspiration for the photo below. And that’s what I loved about this session. We had the chance to shoot everything that we actually wanted, but then were put into a position where we needed to be inspired and creative during a situation in which some photographers might have called it quits. But that’s not us, and it wasn’t Nicole and Matt either. They were totally game for it all, and this bodes well for photography on their wedding day!

Enjoy these previews. Feel free to leave a comment by clicking on the “Comments” link below.

More withΒ Nicole + Matt.

  • Christina Egner - This post has to make me laugh and breath a sigh of relief in a weird sort of way.

I went to some remote railroad tracks earlier in June….and after about 30 minutes of taking some of my girls 8th grade dance pics….was approached by a police officer and asked to leave the tracks. I was shocked at the time! Hasn’t anybody seen the movie Stand by Me? [they walked on those tracks ALL day]

Recently, I found some old abandoned railroad cars [i have a thing for railroads i guess]. There were 2 guys roaming around, they seemed to be working in the area. I asked them if they minded that I took some pictures of my girls on their tracks. They said ok as long as we didn’t touch the equipment. I swear, no more than 3 minutes later the one man says to me: ma’am, you have to get off the tracks.

Er what? You just said I could take pictures and these tracks aren’t even being used for real. I graciously left…and like you….got exactly what I wanted in the few moments I was there.

I told my husband…..sheeeeesh, it’s kinda frustrating when you find a nice photo location and get kicked out. HE reminded me, that was kinda the thrill of it. Gosh, I love him~

So thanks for sharing this story………….it totally made my day.December 3, 2010 – 3:26 PM

  • Angela Zurlo - ohh I love the infrared photo! Looks awesome πŸ™‚June 12, 2007 – 3:18 PM

  • Ulysses - Nicole & Matt, we had a fantastic time, as well! I’ve already said plenty in the blog about you guys. But as you can tell, I don’t at all mind going on for a bit more. πŸ™‚

I really liked the way you’d do something that was just natural for the two of you, either in positioning or in expression, and the way that this made the photos so unique. We love seeing that during a session. It’s not about thinking of what you’ve seen in other photos, but just enjoying yourselves and allowing your loving feelings to be put on display for two enthused individuals who are doing their best to get you to ignore them (yeah, right!). You each did a wonderful job. And we enjoyed it so much.

Can’t wait for the next time! Think about ways to spend little pockets of time on the wedding day, so we can create even more incredible images. I know you’ll absolutely love the results. πŸ™‚June 11, 2007 – 11:33 PM

  • Ulysses - Thank you very much, Dotun. I’m thinking you’re referring to the infrared photo in the blog entry? I enjoyed this one so much. Some of the other infrared photos in their gallery are among our very favorites. When care is given to it both at shot time and in post, they can be very powerful images. The look definitely suited Nicole & Matt, in our opinion. They gave us plenty of chances to play. πŸ™‚June 11, 2007 – 11:28 PM

  • nicole & matt - we had an absolute blast on saturday and LOVE the infraredJune 11, 2007 – 4:15 PM

Sarah & Ryan’s wedding day seemed to move like a rapidly passing storm, which is entirely appropriate considering it threatened to thunderstorm. When we arrived at the Chateau Hathorn, Sarah and Ryan had some private time arranged for photography, and they got to spend that time seeing one another before the ceremony and taking some natural but fashionable portraits together. We LOVED this segment of the day. We did get a little rain, but it didn’t at all temper Sarah’s spirits; she was having too much fun with her friends and family for it to really matter, and Ryan was as cool as could be. Once the clouds lifted, they had a heart-moving outdoor ceremony. Tears rolled down Sarah’s cheeks as she read her vows to Ryan.

Near the end of the reception, Sarah & Ryan invited us upstairs for another brief impromptu photo shoot with them in the coziness of their overnight room. We think they’re going to love the results and the emotion displayed in their photos, and we can’t wait to share them.

Sarah and Ryan, thank you so much for allowing us to be such an integral part of the day. We appreciate the first-rate service afforded us at the lovely Chateau Hathorn, as well. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Their complete gallery will be available upon their return from their honeymoon. You’ll find it in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. Until then, enjoy this brief slideshow of images from their wedding by clicking on the “PLAY” button.

And please feel free to leave a note for Sarah & Ryan, or for us, by clicking on the “Comments” link below.

  • Ulysses - Patti & Carrie, this is exactly one of the reasons we enjoy posting a little preview like this. We had many individuals from far away who were not able to attend our own wedding, but being able to share some photos in this way is the next best thing to actually being there. πŸ™‚

Mr. & Mrs. Hartigan, you are truly blessed parents. One of the things that stood out to us about Sarah and Ryan is that they are truly different in their outlook on life and in their ready openness in accepting such a wide variety of friends into their lives. Their wedding was just as colorful and enjoyable as they themselves are. It made the day a treasured experience for myself and Jenni.

We’re glad you’re enjoying this little “teaser”. Believe me, the best are yet to come! πŸ™‚June 10, 2007 – 10:20 AM

  • Mom and Dad Hartigan - What gorgeous pictures as a tease to all that’s to come! We are extremely delighted to have Sarah join our family, as we are to have Ryan be our son…how many blessings we wish for BOTH of you! Looking forward to seeing all the other photos and watching the years unfold!

  • Patti and Carrie Cullen - Carrie and I just looked at your beautiful pictures. Sara you looked absolutely stunning, the perfect bride. Each picture is so beautiful, your wedding album will be gorgeous. We were so sorry to have missed you on your special day, but we are happy to have the chance to see these lovely pictures and hear how wonderful your special day was from your parents. We wish you a lifetime of health and happiness together!June 8, 2007 – 7:51 AM

  • Ulysses - Thanks so much, Noel. There are lots more to come, we promise! πŸ™‚

And hello, Mrs. Clark! I know we mentioned this to you personally already. But thank you so much for your daughter and son in-law. We were thrilled to have so much access to them and to the family. They’re a wonderful couple together, and we were very touched by their emotion and warmth. We couldn’t have asked for a better day with them. The preview only hints at the things to come. Our best to you and to your family!June 6, 2007 – 2:12 PM

  • Noel - Absolutely gorgeous. Sarah and Ryan, what a beautiful wedding. I can’t wait to hear all about the honeymoon. I am glad that we were able to share in “YOUR” day. Much LoveJune 6, 2007 – 6:53 AM

Julie & SwaroopÒ€ℒs e-sessionJulie and Swaroop found us several months ago, and we immediately hit it off as if we’d known one another for quite some time. It was important to them that their photographer easily get along with a variety of people, since their families are from cultures as different as the East is from the West. But seeing the two of them together during this photo session not only allowed us to get to know them even better, but it also reaffirmed for us that the diversity of people and cultures is also one of their truest beauties. These two were meant to be together, and their genuine affection for one another was so evident in the photos.

Julie is also a photographer, so their putting so much priority on photography and the time for it is not at all unappreciated by us. We know their wedding at the Lyndhurst Castle is going to be amazing. πŸ™‚

We can’t wait for them to see the full gallery of engagement photos, which will be available shortly in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website.

Everyone knows that we’re always behind the camera. We’re almost never in FRONT of the camera. The rare but enjoyable exception is when someone actually wants to take a picture of us, making us part of their personal story. Take Angela, for example (Gina’s sister and maid of honor). We had a lot of fun with these two girls, and in fact the entire bridal party. Unbeknownst to us, Angela was watching and putting on her inner photojournalist by capturing some shots of US getting our bridals with Gina. Too much fun! Thank you for sharing this, Angela! I had no idea we were so intense. LOL! πŸ˜€

And pictured below is the shot Jenni got from that same period of time. I think most were surprised that we’d turned their foyer entrance into a makeshift photography studio. πŸ™‚

  • Ulysses - LOL!!

Oh, don’t sell yourself short. Everyone starts somewhere, right? πŸ™‚

We get such a kick out of looking at pictures like these I guess it’s our way of entertaining ourselves. LOL!June 4, 2007 – 9:13 AM

  • Angela Zurlo - Awesome! I love it πŸ™‚

As my mom says, comparing the two shots, I have some way to go in my photojournalism career πŸ˜‰June 3, 2007 – 1:20 PM

What an awesome time we had with Jamie, Paul, and their pet Beagle, Maya! We found them waiting near the Hudson River at our rendezvous point. Even though it was threatening to storm heavily, we were each confident that this was going to be a FANTASTIC day of shooting. Wouldn’t you know it… the storm clouds cleared, and the Sun actually started to make an appearance. Good thing, too, because this fun-loving couple was totally waiting to get started. Jamie has gorgeous and expressive eyes, while Paul clearly enjoys being close to her. We had such a great time with each of them. Though Maya was shy at first, I think she warmed up to us mid-way through the shoot. It was a great day!

Their wedding at The Garrison is coming up soon, and we know it will be a blast! πŸ™‚

The gallery will be available soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. Until then, enjoy these photo previews. Even more incredible images are coming, and we know you’re going to enjoy them.

  • Ulysses - Jamie, I had a feeling you’d be thrilled to see Maya on the blog. She was a real trooper during the session. I knew you’d be happy to see a little teaser with these photos. There are so many good ones. We’re honestly having trouble deciding which are our own favorites, so we can’t wait to hear about yours. πŸ™‚

We have a wedding today and another shoot tomorrow, but I’ve already begun work on processing your e-session photos, so it shouldn’t be too long before they’re posted. Let all the family and friends know!June 2, 2007 – 9:38 AM

  • Jamie and Paul - Hi Ulysses and Jenni!

Wow– you guys are fast!! Thanks for a laid-back and fun photo shoot. We can’t wait to see more. Of course, I loved our photo BUT the photo of Maya is just perfect! The photo session definitely has us excited for our wedding in October!

We had so much fun with Kristie & Joel that it would be difficult for us to call this one work. In fact, if anyone was working the camera, it was THEM! They gave us so many different looks that we could have photographed them for much longer than we did. From the very start, they were very comfortable with the cameras clicking away, and we all quickly fell into a good rhythm for their e-session. Conditions were also perfect for some stunning infrared photos. We think they’ll be blown away by them. πŸ™‚

We cannot wait for their wedding at the V.I.P. Country Club so we can spend some private time with them again for photos.

Their gallery will be posted very soon in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website, so keep your browsers ready! And we’d love to hear from friends and family with comments on your favorites by clicking the “Comments” link below. πŸ™‚

  • Ulysses - Seneda, we’re working very hard to prepare the photos from Kristie and Joel’s wedding at the VIP Country Club. We had an awesome time with them, and we can’t wait to show the pictures to everyone. There was so much excitement in the day, and lots of photos to show things that no one else will have seen otherwise. It was a real privilege to be there with them.

The photos will be made available upon their return from the honeymoon. You will be able to find it by going to our website’s home page, and then clicking in the menu for “Client Proofs”. There you will see their gallery in the list.

But we will also be posting another blog entry very soon about their wedding, with a slideshow preview (a little “teaser” of images) just to give a hint at what is to come in their full gallery. I think you’re going to love it once you see the pictures. πŸ™‚

Stay tuned! And keep your eye on the blog! πŸ™‚August 8, 2007 – 10:51 PM

  • Senada - you both are beautiful people apart but together you are absolutely gorgeous. these pictures are ideal. this is after the wedding, which i must say was spectacular, so i can’t wait to see the wedding pictures. i watched some while you two were taking pictures before the reception and i think i know what makes these pictures gorgeous. it is because you two look more at each other than the camera. i am soo happy for you. good luck in everything that you do. πŸ™‚ xoxoAugust 6, 2007 – 9:59 AM

  • Ulysses - Jessica, the really cool thing about this shoot is that while Kristie & Joel were happy to run around with us as we scouted some unlikely places for photos, what you see in their images is very much THEM. They are a very self-energized, spontaneous couple. The sort of couple you could just go out with and shoot for hours. Literally! We wanted to keep going but couldn’t. Can you imagine, though?!?? πŸ™‚

Well, we’ll get a chance again for their wedding day. We’re so pumped for it! We’re looking forward to an amazing day full of romance and maybe a bit of beautiful drama, as well.

Thanks so much for the comments. Coming from you, it means a lot to us. And I know it makes Kristie & Joel feel fantastic to know others are enjoying the photos, too. πŸ™‚June 7, 2007 – 1:36 AM

  • Brittany - Well Well Well
    My sister and future brother-in-law.
    Gorgeous!
Adorably stunning, although I am nothing short of sure that My sisters Radiant Beauty aided in the highly skilled photography. I happen to know one of the secrets where this was shot and I must say Kudos!
Can’t wait for the wedding photos, these encapsulate that youthful, invigorating love these two generate as well as the innocence and beauty of their romance.

  • Ulysses - Jessica, thanks so much for the kind words! You wouldn’t believe where we shot this series of photos even if I told you. Well… actually… yes, YOU might believe me. LOL!! πŸ™‚

But that’s a story for another day. Can’t reveal the secret in the sauce here on the blog. LOL!! πŸ˜€

These two did all the work, and were totally improvising on their own. Just awesome stuff!

    It’s always great to hear from you. We’ll talk soon.June 1, 2007 – 1:56 AM

  • Ulysses - Yay!! Kristie, you ARE the first to comment, and hopefully not the last (tell all your friends! ;)). Jenni and I are so glad you enjoyed the session as much as we did. And although we didn’t get to spend much time with them, it was so good to meet your mom and see your maid of honor again. I think you’re all going to be very excited by the results when we post them (they’re coming soon — I promise!!) πŸ˜‰

This all bodes very, VERY well for your wedding day. If we get a similar period of time for your wedding day, you can just imagine how awesome the day will be and how the photos will look! Wow!

Kristie & Joel, thanks for being such great sports and allowing us to “play” with you guys. You made it a genuine pleasure for us, and we can’t wait to spend some quality time with you guys again. We’ll talk again real soon. πŸ™‚June 1, 2007 – 1:53 AM

  • Kristie - I must be the first to comment. Joel and I had such an amazing time at the session. You both made us so comfortable, when we finished the session we were so disappointed-we never wanted it to end. But we are so excited to see the rest of the pictures, and can’t wait until the wedding day. Thank you both for making this experience such a memorable and enjoyable one. You two really were the BEST chaperones yet!! πŸ˜‰ Thanks again and the preview pictures look amazing! I am so happy!May 31, 2007 – 5:22 PM

When Tiffany graduated from college, her mom wanted to do something really special for her. So she commissioned us to take Tiffany out for an afternoon photo shoot. We started out with the prerequisite cap and gown shots (Tiffany wisely opted NOT to wear the cap, but simply hold it), then very quickly moved on to the fun stuff. Tiffany was a natural and easily fell into her favorite poses from America’s Next Top Model. πŸ˜€

We’re so happy for Tiffany and know she’s got an incredibly bright future ahead. We can’t wait for her to see the full gallery of portraits. These will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website.

Ulysses and I were so excited to finally meet Nicole and Jeff, as they booked us from all the way in Virginia. They made the long drive up, and we were happy to get together for their engagement session in a beautiful park. Nicole has a million-dollar smile, and Jeff cuts a strong figure of support, so we really enjoyed their session. We had some laughs when we were in the middle of the session and the lawn sprinklers turned on (now we know what happens when we stay in the park after hours!). But it was all worth it, and we think the results are fabulous.

We really look forward to their wedding this fall at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton. Please enjoy this preview photo while we prepare the rest of their proof gallery, which will be available shortly in “Client Proofs” on our main website.

Sarah & Greg’s wedding day turned out even better than they had originally planned. We were so happy for them and the way their choices worked out. Sarah was positively glowing and looked so radiant in her gown when we found her and her maid-of-honor, Tahl, at their hotel room. We spent a little time catching up and enjoyed chatting while Sarah finished dressing, and then it was off to a lovely park to take some fashionable portraits with her groom-to-be. The time we spent with them for this private session was so well worth it, and it really shows in the photos. They were fantastic together.

Here’s a brief preview so you can see what we saw during our session with them. To start the slideshow, just press the “PLAY” button.

Sarah & Greg, you couldn’t have had a more beautiful day. Thanks so much for taking such good care of us, too. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with you and your family.

We know you can’t wait to see the photos, so the complete gallery should be up soon in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. We’d love to hear your thoughts about your favorite images by clicking the “Comments” link immediately below this blog entry. πŸ™‚

Gina and Michael are among the sweetest people we’ve ever met. It’s been such an incredibly busy year for them, and they couldn’t wait to finally be married. Their eagerness for the arrival of this day made it especially enjoyable to spend the day shooting with their wedding. Following the ceremony, we found time to steal away with them for a photo shoot near the Hudson River. Gina is an avid reader of our blog, and it sometimes seemed she knew exactly what we wanted to do before we even said a word! We loved our time with the two of them.

I know there are lots of family and friends waiting to preview some of their photos, so without saying anything further, click the “PLAY” button below to begin the brief show.

Gina and Michael, thanks so much for including us in such a beautiful day. πŸ™‚

Their complete gallery will be available within the next few days in the “Client Proofs” section of our main website. The short wait will be well worth it! Feel free to leave a comment or two by clicking the “Comments” link immediately below. We want this to be an interactive experience for all of you. πŸ™‚

  • Ulysses - Renee, the pleasure was all ours. Truly! Gina & Michael were the very picture of love and inner calm on their wedding day — exactly what you could hope for so that they could ENJOY their day. At the reception, we could tell just how important their friends are to them as the most important component of the wedding day. We were so privileged to be there. If ever the day comes when they expect to see their family expand, we hope we can capture something beautiful for them then, as well. πŸ™‚

    We’ll talk again soon. Enjoy the photos!June 1, 2007 – 1:34 AM

Andrea & FrankÒ€ℒs e-sessionWe’ve been super busy with weddings, engagement sessions, and other portrait sessions for the last few days. We’ve had some incredible days of shooting, and we can’t wait to share with you some photo previews, as well as the client galleries to follow. We’re catching up on all the processing for each of these events, so keep your browsers pointed HERE for those initial previews. They will not disappoint! πŸ™‚

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of our blog and main website. Thanks for your patience.

  • Ulysses - Hahahahahah!!! πŸ˜€

Angela, thank you so much for this note. What a great way to start the morning! And it makes it that much more special to receive a note from a family member.

Jenni and I are so glad that we were able to contribute to the enjoyment of the day. It’s not really our style to be UN-involved with the couple and with the family. There’s simply too much fun to be had! So when everyone is as friendly and welcoming as Gina & Michael and each of the parents were, it reminds us of why we love doing this.

Stand by! If all goes well during the work day, I’m hoping to have a preview slideshow available a little later today. πŸ˜‰

    I’ll bet your F5 key is worn out by now! πŸ˜€May 28, 2007 – 10:36 AM

  • Angela Zurlo - If your website seems to be going over its bandwidth… it’s because everyone at the Bellofatto wedding checks for pictures every 5 seconds. And you know how many people that is.

    Awesome job, you two πŸ™‚May 28, 2007 – 9:14 AM

This post is so belated that I’m almost ashamed. But that’s not going to stop me from talking about the incredible couples that we had the privilege of working with over the year of 2006. You are the reason we love doing what we do. You stimulated us, challenged us, motivated us — but most of all, you trusted us. We hope you’re continuing to enjoy your engagement and wedding photos, whether in prints, in art folios or in books.

We’re going to rave about you through a brief slideshow showcasing YOU — our couples of 2006. Click the image below to take you to your slideshow.

  • Ulysses - Hi there, Lauren & Justin!

Here’s the funny thing: We have a LARGE picture of you guys in our client meeting area — it’s “The” shot, the romantic kiss with with you and Justin in the water. So it’s as if we get to see you guys every day. πŸ˜€

We’re having a blast. There are no less than two or three brides this year who want to do something involving getting into a body of water. One of them is a bride on her wedding day, and another is another bride who wants to do something amazing for her e-session. So you know how we feel about that! We can’t wait.

We talk about you guys to our friends, fellow photographers… even to our moms. πŸ˜€

Thanks for leaving a note. All our love to you both, and to your parents, too! Hope to see you guys soon.

And please… Let us know when you’re expecting your family to start growing! πŸ˜‰May 21, 2007 – 8:05 PM

  • Lauren & Justin - Hi Jenni and Ulysses!

How nice of you to put this together, it came out great!! We hope all is well and that you’re getting geared up for the wedding season. Can’t wait to see what masterpieces you come up with next πŸ˜‰

Our most recent wedding took us out to the beautiful North Fork of Long Island. Following the wedding, we stayed overnight at the refreshing Stirling House Bed & Breakfast. On our drive back upstate, Jenni pointed towards some trees a couple hundred yards away and said, “Is that a hawk?!?” I just barely caught a glimpse of the raptor in the trees, but I knew even from a distance that it was rather large for a hawk. So we turned the car around to get a closer look.

Since our camera gear was in the trunk, she got out my long lens, and I tried to focus as quickly as I could for a closer look. Sure enough, it wasn’t a hawk at all – it was an osprey (also called a sea eagle in some regions). Long Island is rather known for the springtime return of osprey pair, who raise their chicks before migrating south again. Sometimes they’ll winter as far as South America. Check out this site for more information on Long Island ospreys.

Here are some photos of our feathered friend. In one frame, you can even see the osprey’s mate sitting in the nest. My guess is that they’re either brooding with a few eggs in the nest or else protecting some hatchlings. We love bird watching, and this is our first time actually seeing an osprey in the wild. They’re beautiful creatures! πŸ™‚

The day had finally arrived for Katherine & Anthony’s wedding! It was an incredibly beautiful day at her parents’ house on the North Fork of Long Island. Everything about the day was perfectly suited to their sensibilities and choices. While Anthony was downstairs getting into his kilt and adjusting accessories, Katherine was upstairs putting on the finishing touches to her exquisite gown. Their little daughter had such a pleasant personality, as if all the activity was meant just for her. Family and close friends (some from as far away as Germany) were treated to a wedding that felt cozy, intimate, and yet very elegant.

You’ll no doubt enjoy the beauty and fun of the day, and you’ll smile at the antics of their little nephews in the photos. The full gallery will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. But for now, here is a preview of a few highlights from the day. There are plenty more to come! Drop us a note via the “Comments” link below the slideshow. We’re sure Katherine and Anthony would love to hear from you, too. πŸ™‚

Kelly & David engagement 01We couldn’t have asked for a better day than the one we shared with Kelly and David. It threatened to thunderstorm (and in fact poured in their own area). But by the time we arrived to meet them at a beautiful paradise-like park chosen by Kelly, the sun was out, and we had our pick of places to photograph with them. Kelly was gorgeous, having had hair and makeup done especially for this session. And David wasn’t doing too bad either. Both were truly excited about their photo session, as were we. πŸ™‚

Our first spot to shoot was at the site of a 300-year-old tree that had fallen to the ground a year ago. Kelly discovered it during one of her walks through the woods. It made a perfect platform for them to sit and snuggle, its textures creating a perfect juxtaposition for the real focus of the photo – their affection for one another. After warming up at that spot, we wandered the park and simply had fun in flower beds, fields, and anywhere else that seemed to invite us. We can’t wait to show them their beautiful gallery of photos. We get just as excited as the couple to see the results from sessions as enjoyable as these. πŸ™‚

The gallery will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. We’d love to hear about your favorites if you’d like to comment on them. πŸ™‚

  • Jenni - Hi Kelly! Thanks so much for writing! We hope you and all your guests enjoy your Guest Book. You made some wonderful choices for the book, so in combination with Ulysses’ artwork, we’re thrilled to hear that you can call it magnificant. πŸ™‚

For your large infrared photo, I vote for a white mat and black frame (with no glass).

The wedding day will be here before you know it … just a couple of months!! We’ll see you soon.June 20, 2007 – 11:42 PM

  • Kelly - We just got our guest book with our e-pics today! Realizing that this is a public blog I will merely say, HOLY COW! It looked so wonderful. Magnificent, extraordinary, and spiffy even! Better than either Dave and I expected, and we expected really good things! We also got a large infrared B&W for our wall which looks unbelievable. Now the big question, do we use a black matte with it or a white?
    Can’t wait to see you two at the wedding!June 20, 2007 – 9:59 PM

  • Ulysses - Linda, it was a real pleasure photographing them. The location was just beautiful, and Kelly & David were so at ease with one another, making it a privilege to get this sort of intimate insight into their relationship. The wedding day is going to be even more exciting and equally as much fun. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for the kind words. Jenni and I look forward to meeting you.

  • Linda Oggenfuss - We are Kelly’s parents. Your wonderful talent shows through. You were able to capture Kelly and Dave’s love for each other on film. What a treasure.
Thank you. We are looking forward to meeting you at the wedding and to seeing more of your great work.
