I remember this moment so well, as Ada had just finished putting on her beaded dress and looked in the mirror. It was that moment every girl experiences on her wedding day and remembers … that of realizing she is now a bride.
Ada’s hair and makeup were perfection, which is no surprise, as she is the owner of the very chic Salon Lucere in Chester, New York. In fact, Ada had been my personal hair stylist for years, which is how we met! That made the day even sweeter for me, as I remembered Ada telling me when she first met Jimmy and started dating, hearing her excitement upon getting engaged, and all the wedding plans. It was such a privilege to be a part of them!
Ada later told me that she secretly knew that we would be her wedding photographers, and was willing to sacrifice other expenses if need be in order to get "the best photographer." She said that unlike the flowers or favors, the pictures are the one thing that really will last forever.
Since Ada and her groom were planning to see each other before the ceremony for some private portraits, the anticipation was high. I had no doubt she would knock Jimmy’s socks off when he saw her, and I was right - his jaw literally dropped! The vineyards of Benmarl Winery provided the perfect private setting for that moment. It was just the start of a romantic day filled with friends and family, wine and laughter, and the most picturesque views a photographer could want.
