One of our favorite areas to work and play in all of New York is the Westchester region. Some of the area’s most fabulous and creative professionals are found there. Each year Westchester Magazine throws a gala party so attendees can experience over 100 of the very “BEST” in Westchester County. This year’s event was simply spectacular. It was held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY, with an expected attendance of around 3,000 individuals.
When everyone arrived by car or by shuttle, they were greeted by a red carpet entrance, which we photographed, and welcomed by “Jessica Simpson” look-alike Lynsey to enjoy themselves for the evening. When they entered the VIP tent and clubhouse there was plenty of food to sample from the finest restaurants, the most awesome bands and DJs to be heard in the area, relaxing massage treatments from the best Westchester spas, intriguing products from store owners, and the best services available from a variety of businesses. It was an event not to be missed, and we’re thankful to Westchester Magazine for inviting us to photograph it!

Chateau Hathorn, a lovely venue in Warwick, NY, recently invited us to photograph one of their premium events, a wine tasting dinner. As it’s one of our favorite places to dine and spend time, we were more than happy to take photos for them. The Chateau Hathorn also offers a full bed & breakfast service, so we photographed the rooms for their upcoming revamped website. We can’t wait to see how the new site turns out for them.
We watched the smiling guests arrive, and then all were all shown to their tables so the program could begin. What followed was the most enjoyable six-course meal you could imagine. Sandra’s excellent preparation and attention to detail was clearly demonstrated throughout the evening. This particular tasting was Chilean-themed, so she had researched Chilean food and wine, and then owner/chef Dolph prepared an authentic Chilean feast. Each course brought huge smiles of delight to our faces as we enjoyed the incredible tastes and aromas, and as we followed Sandra’s instructions on how to properly sample the wine.

Fine food, excellent wine, first-rate service, beautiful scenery, and great conversation all contributed to a memorable evening. When Canon USA offered me the opportunity to test some of their top-of-the-line camera gear, I was pumped to have the chance. We had a few exciting sessions coming up, which I knew would help put the camera and lenses through their paces with the way I like to shoot. But we also wanted to work into our schedule something unique and fun. After describing what we had in mind to Erica, the owner of Be Unique Boutique, we arranged to go to her shop for a bridal fashion session.
We needed a team that was completely on board with what we had in mind for the day, so we couldn’t have been more excited than to have Kimberly & Eric join us as models for the afternoon. Makeup and hair designs were by Mari Fandl (phone 845-591-8645), who we also absolutely LOVE and can’t say enough good things about. We were each ready to go!
Although it was a busy day for her shop, Erica helped us find a gorgeous gown to work with, and then we began our session. We were thrilled with the results seen below:
It was a day for walking and window shopping, and Kimberly had brought a change of clothing and shoes. So once we left the shop, we decided to enjoy the afternoon with a walk down Main Street ourselves, taking advantage of this gorgeous day for shooting an incredible couple.

We’re always keeping our eyes open for something different but amazing, something so colorful that you could almost taste it, something so unusual that it almost defies classification. This time, we’ve stumbled upon a daring gown designer in the UK by the name of Basia Zarzycka. Her own words say it best: “This is not a normal shop.” One glance at her website, and you’ll immediately realize she’s telling the truth. Her designs are all at once both elegant and shocking, at times deceptively simple and yet always deliciously high fashion. Her attention to detail and accessorization is incredible. If you want to see some of the latest in over-the-top custom bridal design intended to make your dreams come true, definitely give her website a look. For brides who share her creative vision, it will be better than a trip to Neverland.

I remember years ago shopping in a mens clothing store. A gray-haired gentleman was helping his son buy his first suit. I overheard the young man say to his dad, “What about this one? It’s pretty inexpensive.” The dad looked at the price tag, and then he put his hand on his son’s shoulder and said, “I’ve always told you, buy QUALITY, and buy SERVICE. They won’t let you down later on.”
I have remembered this sage advice from that day forward, and it’s a recommendation I give to anyone when it comes to making important purchases, and especially to couples who are considering us for their photography needs. We are so happy to have had the most amazing brides commission us with such an important trust as their wedding photos. Our reputation is everything to us. Our photography has won awards and has been published in magazines. But those accolades are nothing in comparison to the joyful responses we receive from our couples, along with their family and closest friends. Ulysses and I were pleased to be invited to Round Hill in Washingtonville, NY, for a food tasting for Feast Caterers. We set up a table with some of our favorite wedding books, and enjoyed chatting with a number of newly engaged couples in the relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. It was a true delight hearing about each couple’s plans.
We also got to taste some of the delicious food being passed around, and we can highly recommend it. Their shrimp is SO good. : )

I tried out a few services recently at the Soul Therapy Spa in Fishkill, New York. What a wonderful place! I’m a strong believer in massage therapy, so first I got a massage done by Lori. She does a great job, and every muscle was relaxed afterward. The quiet and calming atmosphere of the spa contributes to releasing any shred of tension you may have.
I also had my first facial - ever! I tried their Champagne facial. What a treat! Kelly is fabulous, and obviously loves her job as much as we love photography. Besides being incredibly relaxing, my skin felt wonderful afterward, and she helped with specific suggestions for skin care.
