Family time… It’s always a source of delight, especially when spending that time with my two little nephews, Malakai and Kobe. I can hardly believe how big they’re getting and how distinctive their personalities are. It truly is a little miracle to watch their growth and to experience their abundance of energy and curiosity. They remind me so much of my brother and myself when we were that age.
Here are a few pieces of our day with them and their awesome parents, Eric & Chrissy. Just click the “PLAY” button in the box below. And be sure to leave a comment if you can.
Eric, Chrissy, Malakai and Kobe… we love you guys.
Kim & Ray are an incredibly warm and friendly couple. Although married now for a few years, they didn’t have a chance to have wedding portraits taken. So we were delighted when Kim called and asked if we would photograph the two of them as if for their own wedding day. She looked lovely, dressed in a long white gown and with her hair styled and makeup done. Ray cut a powerful figure in his all-black attire. We needed to run between the raindrops on occasion, but that only added to the fun and surprise of the day. Ray loves his Harley motorcycle. He wasn’t able to bring it with him for the shoot, but they had a small addition of clothing when they each added their biking vests. What a blast!
Kim & Ray, thanks for choosing us for your special photo session. We wish the absolute best for the two of you in your future together.

The time flies by SO quickly! We can hardly believe it, but little Alexander is already 12 months old! It seems that every time we see him, he changes so much both in his looks and in his rapidly developing personality. And what a complete ham, too!
Alexander enjoys the camera and taking photos. He really digs pushing his cart around the house and can’t wait to ride his new toy Harley. On hot days like the day of his 12-month photo session, he couldn’t wait to get into his swimming pool. He got the most curious look on his face when he found a frog there.
But of all the things that Alex enjoys most, it’s spending time with his parents, Jesyca & Bill. They’re each so incredibly fortunate to have one another.
The entire gallery of Alex’s most recent photos will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. We love hearing from our readers, so please leave a comment.

There are few things more fulfilling for a wedding photographer than to be invited back over the course of time to watch a couple’s growing family. You can imagine our excitement at FINALLY getting to meet Vivian & John’s little baby boy, Gianluca. Only a little over a week old, we simply allowed his pace (and his meal routine) to tell us when it was time to photograph.
Vivian & John, he’s a beautiful little bundle, and we couldn’t be happier for one of the most amazing couples ever. THANK YOU for asking us to share this experience. We know that wonderful things are yet in store for your beautiful family. We can’t wait to watch him grow.

Get ready for the cutest cheeks you’ve ever seen! Ulysses and I had so much fun with Olivia, as she gave us a tour of her yard, showing us all the flowers she planted, the trees she could climb, and the bugs she was afraid of. An energetic little lady of great style, Olivia is almost constantly moving from one place and topic to another. We had a blast following her around and finding beautiful little moments that showed her personality. Enjoy the photos!

Ulysses and I were so honored to be asked by Jen Cassaro of Masterpiece Video to take some portraits of her and her assistant for her website! We’ve really enjoyed working with Jen and Alyssa over the years. We know they have skill behind their cameras, so we were looking forward to getting them in front of ours!
They both prepared well for the session by getting gorgeous makeovers by Marisa Verdi (whom our faithful readers already know about), so all that was left was to bring out some of their fun personalities. Jen’s lovable companion, Sophie, was so cute and had no problem getting in on the action, too. Here are a few previews, and the rest of the gallery is now available in the “Client Proofs” area of our main site. Enjoy, and please feel free to leave your comments.

The Schmicks were enjoying a few days with their children and grandchildren. Since everyone was together in one place, they called and asked if we would photograph their family portraits. We were more than happy to join them! We took advantage of the beautiful light and scenery at their lovely ranch-like spread before moving indoors for some individual family groupings.

(Click image to see a larger version.)
We came highly recommended to them by the owners of Chateau Hathorn (a beautiful wedding venue, restaurant and bed & breakfast that you should definitely check out - the food is INCREDIBLE), who have known the Schmicks for years. We are so appreciative when others spread the word about us!
It’s been just marvelous getting to know Jesyca & Bill over the past couple of years. We’ve had the opportunity to photograph their wedding, and then document their growing family from pregnancy and into little Alex’s first year of life. Part of the richness of our experience is getting to know their families, as well. So when Bill’s mother, Lorraine, called and asked us to come and take her family’s portraits, we jumped at the opportunity. Each of these folks is so down-to-earth that it was a real treat seeing them all again. And we just know that Lorraine’s mom is going to absolutely love the surprise gift of portraits of all her kids and grandkids!

Portrait work is yet another facet of photography that gives us great joy. A good portrait has the power to say a lot about you, to project a statement about yourself and your image. So we were pleased and honored when Stacey Karesh, the Manager of Public Relations for Neiman Marcus Westchester, contacted us to request portraits for herself and for Beth Sharkey, the Vice President and General Manager. As both of them were beautiful, confident and accomplished women, they were winning subjects for our camera, and we genuinely enjoyed their photo sessions.

As many of our brides know, Neiman Marcus Westchester is a leader in the region when it comes to keeping the community up-to-date on contemporary fashion trends. With a broad selection of luxury merchandise and superior customer service to match, you won’t lack for anything when visiting this beautiful store. We look forward to working with them again in the future.
P.S. - A kind note of thanks to Lina, Stacey’s assistant, whose help with hot tea and water saved Jenni’s throat during her bout of laryngitis.
While our primary enjoyment comes from weddings (along with engagements, “morning-after” sessions, honeymoon sessions, mommies & babies… you get the point… we love photography!), we have just as good a time with other types of photography. Getting to meet a broad cross-section of people in various industries helps us keep up with our commercial work. So we were very glad to receive a call when McKinsey & Company needed some photos for their class of seminar attendees at the Ritz-Carlton in Westchester. They’d been brought in from literally all over the globe, and we had fun meeting a few of them before and after the shoot. It’s humbling to know our pictures are going to nearly every continent.

We had the privilege this week to photograph beautiful little Sevana, who is just 5 weeks old. I couldn’t believe that she was already smiling so much! She’s just beautiful, with big blue eyes and a head full of dark hair, and her parents are obviously totally enraptured with her. We just love doing these types of photo sessions. Just wait til you see this gorgeous little girl …
Her entire proof gallery will be released soon, with a password that can be obtained from her parents. Until then, please enjoy this preview, and feel free to share your thoughts with us by posting a comment. Enjoy!

We’ve recently made an addition to our website, and we wanted to share it with all of you. Although we still specialize primarily in weddings, we’ve been getting more and more portrait requests from our past wedding clients. They’ve been calling us back as their families begin to expand for maternity and baby portraits (which thrills us!) , or when their whole family is in town to get some special family portraits. We love continuing our relationship with them and seeing them again!
To reflect the direction our photography has been taking us, we decided to add a “Portrait” Gallery to our main site. We filled it with a few of our favorites to give you an idea of the kind of portraiture we love, and we think you’ll enjoy them as much as we do. Check it out, and please let others know who might enjoy our style of photography. If you’re a past wedding client, we really hope to see you again soon!
It’s truly hard to believe, but it’s been about 1-1/2 years since we’ve seen Jan & Greg at their gorgeous wedding at Beckwith Pointe. Life has moved pretty quickly for them since then. They’ve moved out to the west coast. They’re enjoying their work. And they are even more in love than ever before. So when Jan contacted us to let us know they’d be visiting New York and asked if we would photograph some portraits for their family, we jumped at the chance to join them again!
It was almost like a little family reunion for us, too, as we we all hugged one another in greeting. Everyone had already had a delicious lunch at the late 19th century grand castle at Mohonk Mountain House. Having done weddings there, we were thrilled to return for a fun and relaxing afternoon with the Coppola Family. They’ve expanded by a bit, too, since Greg’s sister & her husband Vinnie have had a new one added to their nest.
Jan & Greg, we had SUCH a blast getting reacquainted with everyone. And most of all, it was a joy to spend some time with you again. We can’t wait to show you all of the photos, as you were each just as much fun to shoot as ever!
Their online gallery is coming very soon to the “Client Proofs” area of our main website. For now, enjoy the preview photos posted here. We’d love to hear from our readers, so please leave a comment by clicking on “Comments” immediately below.

Yesterday was the second portrait session for little Alex, in what will be a series of sessions over his first year of life.
This little guy is a star!! He did exactly what we asked, as if he could totally understand our direction throughout the whole shoot. We got tons of smiles, and we did lots of laughing ourselves! We thoroughly enjoyed watching Jesyca & Bill’s delight in their beautiful little boy.
At the end of the session, they mentioned that Bill had a special tattoo created, featuring Alex’s actual little handprints. Of course, we had to do something special with that! Right on cue, Alex turned on the intensity… isn’t he amazing?
Enjoy this preview - the whole gallery will be available soon in the “Clients Proofs” area of our main site.

As many of you have noticed, we’ve been extremely busy lately. In fact, it’s just going to get busier as we head into our autumn season. We’ll have lots of exciting weddings, morning-after sessions, portrait sessions, and even a honeymoon to show you soon on the blog!
Since we feel that excellent service is just as important as incredible photographs, we will be closing out the months of September and October to any additional portrait sessions except for maternity and newborn (since they are obviously time-sensitive).
We are currently booking portrait sessions for the months of November and December, so if you are thinking of planning a session, please call us now to reserve a date.
Thank you all! We’re looking forward to an amazing autumn.
Ulysses Photography will be visiting Massachusetts (the Boston/Peabody area) starting on the weekend of June 23. If you or anyone you know would like a portrait session or a Trash the Dress session in the area, please let us know ASAP. We will be scheduling appointments now, so be sure to call to get your slot. We can hit the beach, go urban, or do a maternity, newborn, or family session. Spread the word - it’s going to be a blast!!
SPECIAL OFFER: Book your MA session by June 10, and get a gift 8×10 from your session (value $59).
When Tiffany graduated from college, her mom wanted to do something really special for her. So she commissioned us to take Tiffany out for an afternoon photo shoot. We started out with the prerequisite cap and gown shots (Tiffany wisely opted NOT to wear the cap, but simply hold it), then very quickly moved on to the fun stuff. Tiffany was a natural and easily fell into her favorite poses from America’s Next Top Model.
We’re so happy for Tiffany and know she’s got an incredibly bright future ahead. We can’t wait for her to see the full gallery of portraits. These will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” area of our main website.

Jesyca and Bill are truly a special couple to us. Long-time readers of our blog might easily remember this most vivacious of couples from our sessions past:
So, we were thrilled when they asked us to photograph Jesyca’s maternity session. We wanted to provide for them the same sort of unique and enjoyable experience they had during their previous sessions with us. Jesyca was ready with a few different changes of outfit, hair and makeup beautifully done, and ready for whatever we asked. Bill was ready, too, with plenty of behind-the-scenes humor to keep us all laughing. It wasn’t long before we had him join in with the photo shoot. We can’t wait to join them again for baby photos in a few short weeks.
Their online gallery is coming soon. Look for it in the “Client Proofs” section of our main site.
Thanks for letting us have such a fun time again, Jes & Bill!

It was so enjoyable to be reunited with Stephanie & Brian once again. Just look at all the fun we’ve had with them!
So there was no doubt that the maternity session would be just as pleasurable. The light filtering in through the windows of their baby’s room provided much of the inspiration for the shoot. After shooting a few sets, we also got to meet and play with their three-year-old boxer, Max, who was a bundle of energy that simply begged to be photographed, too.
Thanks so much, Stephanie & Brian, for being such a beautiful couple. It’s a joy to see your growing family. We can’t wait to meet Madison when she arrives!
Their online maternity session will be available very soon in the “Client Proofs” section of our main site. Simply provide your email address and password for entry (available only via Stephanie & Brian). For those that get to see the images, we’d love to hear from you about your favorites by clicking on the “Comments” link immediately below.

As some of you may already know, Ulysses and I spent last week in sunny Florida visiting my family. The weather was gorgeous in the 80s, and it was nice for us to have some time off before the wedding season hits full swing. My parents took us to see some of the sights, including beautiful Sebastian Inlet, and we enjoyed a full culinary tour of Vero Beach. While we were there, Ulysses borrowed my mom’s point-and-shoot camera for an informal family photo session. Here are my parents, and my niece and nephews. Enjoy!
