Alexander’s 4-month Session

Yesterday was the second portrait session for little Alex, in what will be a series of sessions over his first year of life.

This little guy is a star!! He did exactly what we asked, as if he could totally understand our direction throughout the whole shoot. We got tons of smiles, and we did lots of laughing ourselves! We thoroughly enjoyed watching Jesyca & Bill’s delight in their beautiful little boy.

At the end of the session, they mentioned that Bill had a special tattoo created, featuring Alex’s actual little handprints. Of course, we had to do something special with that! Right on cue, Alex turned on the intensity… isn’t he amazing?

Join Us For Florida Portraits!

Ulysses and I will be making a visit to beautiful Vero Beach, Florida in November. It’s the perfect location for portraits, so we’d love to see you while we’re there! We’re available for maternity, baby and family portraits. Jill & Adam’s Wedding

We’ve been looking forward to Jill and Adam’s destination wedding for a long time. First of all, they are such a great couple - fun and energetic, totally in love, and not afraid to show it. On top of that, it was the week of our own 18th wedding anniversary, so a getaway to Sheldrake Point Vineyards, in the Finger Lakes region of NY, was a perfect escape for us in the middle of our most intensely busy season. It is such a beautiful area and an incredibly romantic setting for a wedding. The rain stopped just in time for their outdoor ceremony at the winery, with views of the vineyards behind them, and Cayuga Lake in front. There was hardly a dry eye at their ceremony. Afterward, we spent some private time with Jill and Adam for pictures by the water and in the vineyard. Of course, the sun even came out just when we needed it.

After a fun night of celebration with their families and friends, Jill and Adam were up again bright and early for a “morning-after” session with us! The plan was to go to a gorgeous nearby waterfall, but it was pouring once again. Jill put her gown back on, and Adam his tux pants, and we decided to start shooting inside the hotel instead. When we checked a few minutes later, the rain had stopped, so we raced out to the waterfall. Because of the rain from the past 24 hours, we not only had the waterfall all to ourselves, but we had a beautifully roaring waterfall! We couldn’t have planned it better.

With both of them very comfortable in front of television cameras as part of their work, and Jill having some modeling experience, they were willing to do anything we asked. We got some absolutely incredible pictures around (and in!) the falls. We can’t wait for them to see the breathtaking results!! For now, here is a sneak peak at their photos. Jill and Adam, thank you so much for your complete trust, for the romantic table for two and amazing meal during our “anniversary week”, and for truly treating us like family.

A Day with Friends in Manhattan

Last week two close friends of ours, Jessica and Nate, were visiting NYC. They are not only incredible photographers, but also people we just really love. We were so excited to spend the day with them. Although we’d initially planned to go to the Museum of Modern Art for inspiration, the lines to get in were rather daunting, so we decided to change plans. Our first stop was the Apple Store on 5th Ave, which Ulysses had been very eager to visit. Jess and I did some shopping, and we enjoyed our very first Jamba Juice smoothies (big YUM).

Of course, when you’re in Manhattan, you have to keep your eye open for celebrities, and Ulysses is incredible at recognizing and remembering faces. As we were walking, he suddenly stopped and said “Anita Baker!” When we turned around, there she was, speaking with another woman. Ulysses immediately walked over and waited until this famous singer was done, and then walked introduced himself and walked with her for a while. I grabbed a few shots before heading over to meet her, as well. Ulysses was so excited to tell her that we danced our first dance to one of her songs - Giving You the Best That I Got - at our wedding almost 18 years ago. She was very sweet, and we really enjoyed meeting her. Only in New York, right?

The celebrities we enjoyed the most, however, were Jess and Nate. They are as much fun in front of the camera as they are behind it. They asked us to take some photos of them for their new website, so we stopped at a few funky locations that had interesting light and had a blast with them.

Ulysses: Before we began walking the streets of NY with Jess and Nate, Jenni served as on-the-scene makeup artist, helping Jess prepare for her New York debut. The ladies looked ABSOLUTELY KILLER, I might add.

Some of the photos were taken with their cameras, so I don’t have access to those. But we’ll show you some of our faves that were shot on our own cameras. Sometimes the mood was quiet; other times it was much more energetic (go Jess go!!)

A bit of romance after exploring Central Park was nice, too.

Jess & Nate treated us to an incredible dinner at a Nouvelle Mexican restaurant (really big YUM). After dinner — no surprise — we were still shooting and laughing our heads off.

It was so refreshing to recharge our batteries in the middle of our busy photography season. Being with great friends who inspire us and share our passion for photography was a true highlight of the summer for us.

Carol & Rick’s Wedding

Anyone seeing their natural affection on display can tell that Carol & Rick are simply made for one another. We met up with them a few hours before the wedding for their private photo shoot. We love doing these because the couple can be undistracted by any other thoughts and concentrate completely upon one another. And let me tell you, the ONLY thing Carol was thinking about was Rick!

As she slowly walked up behind him so that he could see her in her fabulous designer gown for the first time, the excitement in the air was like electricity. I think we all had tears of joy in our eyes as they greeted, kissed and hugged. Just beautiful. Their wedding ceremony at the Eagle’s Nest was just as packed with emotion. We laughed when as the officiant neared the point of pronouncing them as man and wife, Carol turned to friends and family and said, “Everybody get ready to scream!”

Our Autumn Season

As many of you have noticed, we’ve been extremely busy lately. In fact, it’s just going to get busier as we head into our autumn season. We’ll have lots of exciting weddings, morning-after sessions, portrait sessions, and even a honeymoon to show you soon on the blog!

Since we feel that excellent service is just as important as incredible photographs, we will be closing out the months of September and October to any additional portrait sessions except for maternity and newborn (since they are obviously time-sensitive).

We are currently booking portrait sessions for the months of November and December, so if you are thinking of planning a session, please call us now to reserve a date.

Kerry & Joe’s Wedding

Both Kerry and Joe are such easygoing people, that we really looked forward to seeing how their wedding day would unfold. Just as we expected, no matter how much chaos there was surrounding them, they both stayed cool and calm and just enjoyed their day. Their kind personalities and love for each other really comes through in the photos. We truly enjoyed being able to photograph them while taking advantage of the beautiful views and the setting sun at The Eagle’s Nest in Bloomingburg, NY.

Kerry and Joe, thank you for taking such good care of us! We hope you’re having a wonderful time relaxing in St. Lucia!

Alexander’s Newborn Session

Get ready for cute!!! We again had the privilege to document the new arrival for one of our wedding couples, and I can’t tell you how much joy this brings us. It’s so amazing to watch their family grow right before our eyes! Jesyca and Bill seem positively awestruck at this little guy, and we don’t blame them a bit. This lip-smacking, squeaky little guy is just too lovable!

Jesyca and Bill, thank you for inviting us into your lives again, and thank you for the gorgeous sunflowers - they are still making me smile.

Cory & Joe’s Wedding

We first met Cory and Joe at a bridal fair at Round Hill. Months later, Cory called to say that she had fallen in love with our work, and although she had looked at other photographers, we were the ones that stood out in her mind. We were drawn to them, too. We’re so glad we had the opportunity to get to know Cory and Joe, and to spend their wedding day with them.

Cory and her girls were so much fun when we started at her parents’ house with her dressing. Then Cory and I rode in the limo together to go see Joe for the first time in a private location. We laughed during the entire ride. Ulysses and I had already found a rather unconventional location for their session, a place you might expect to be more suitable for the increasingly popular “trash the dress” type of sessions. It was perfectly stylish for Cory & Joe; they completely trusted us, and we are so glad they did! The results from this session are fantastic, and we can’t wait to show them the full gallery!

Nicole & Jeff’s E-Session

Ulysses and I were so excited to finally meet Nicole and Jeff, as they booked us from all the way in Virginia. They made the long drive up, and we were happy to get together for their engagement session in a beautiful park. Nicole has a million-dollar smile, and Jeff cuts a strong figure of support, so we really enjoyed their session. We had some laughs when we were in the middle of the session and the lawn sprinklers turned on (now we know what happens when we stay in the park after hours!). But it was all worth it, and we think the results are fabulous.

Bride’s Mom Reports Back!

For all you brides who are having trouble convincing your moms to allow you to be adventurous with your dress, and all of you who are nervous about getting that gorgeous gown wet, dirty, or otherwise contaminated… Lauren’s mom (Lauren is our famous tubing bride) left this comment for us on TrashTheDress.com:

To Jenni, Ulysses, and everyone else: I took Laurenâ€™s gown to the dry cleaners (it smelled a little fishy) and when it was completely dry they cleaned it and it came out fine!!! Soâ€¦.my advice to all you brides is HAVE A GREAT TIME, ENJOY LIFE AND HAVE FUN!!

New Canvas Wrap Samples

Jesyca & Bill’s Rave

Jesyca and Bill got married last year, and it was a joy to photograph their wedding. Now we have again been privileged to share in another momentous time in their lives by documenting their growing family. Ulysses is about to post a preview from Jesyca’s maternity session, but I thought you also might enjoy reading the letter they sent us after the wedding. Words like these really emphasize to us how meaningful our work is…

A mere thank you does not seem to cut it. It was such a honor to have you photograph our wedding. Florida Mailing Lists

Our Visit to Vero Beach

As some of you may already know, Ulysses and I spent last week in sunny Florida visiting my family. The weather was gorgeous in the 80s, and it was nice for us to have some time off before the wedding season hits full swing. My parents took us to see some of the sights, including beautiful Sebastian Inlet, and we enjoyed a full culinary tour of Vero Beach. While we were there, Ulysses borrowed my mom’s point-and-shoot camera for an informal family photo session. Here are my parents, and my niece and nephews. Enjoy!

Katherine & Anthony’s Photos

Even though this was our first time meeting Katherine and Anthony, we hit it off with them right away. We had a great time exploring the streets of a cool little town together during their e-session! Anthony said later he thought the photo session was going to be like school portraits (haha ), but these two totally let loose and just enjoyed being together. That’s what it’s all about! Annie & Jason’s Engagement

Our last portrait shoot yesterday was of Annie and Jason. Again, these two were such great sports in the cold. They did absolutely anything we asked, even rolling around on the ground when we found some irresistable tree roots for some striking and beautiful images.
